What happens if you eat bad chicken?

Kate image

I ate some cooked but bad chicken today at 11:30am and so far I haven't been sick and my stomach doesn't hurt at all. My friend didn't know it was left on the counter for 2 days uncooked and she cooked it and we ate it. Thankfully I didn't eat that much but it didn't taste bad either which is weird. The only reason we know it was bad is her mom came home and told us it was bad! We were like uh oh!

This is not meant as medical advice. You should consult a doctor for all medical advice. Google "food poisoning"

From www.emedicinehealth.com
"Food Poisoning Symptoms

Symptoms of food poisoning depend on the type of contaminant and the amount eaten. The symptoms can develop rapidly, within 30 minutes, or slowly, worsening over days to weeks. Most of the common contaminants cause nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, and abdominal cramping. Usually food poisoning is not serious, and the illness runs its course in 24-48 hours. "

From Mayo Clinic:
"When to see a doctor :
If you experience any of the following signs or symptoms, seek medical attention.

■Frequent episodes of vomiting for more than two days
■Vomiting blood
■Inability to keep liquids down for 24 hours
■Severe diarrhea for more than three days
■Blood in your bowel movements
■Extreme pain or severe abdominal cramping
■An oral temperature higher than 101.5 F (38.6 C)
■Signs or symptoms of dehydration — excessive thirst, dry mouth, little or no urination, severe weakness, dizziness or lightheadedness
If you suspect food poisoning, contact your local health department. Your report can help the health department identify a potential outbreak and may help prevent other people from getting sick. Besides listing your symptoms, you may need to recall what you ate, where you got the food and when you got sick. "

Well it's fifteen hours later and if the chicken was contaminated your probably hating life right now.

Chicken that is left out (time temperature abused) can cause Clostridium perfringes gastroenteritis, Salmonellosis. The most common Salmonella poisoning (as most people know it) can happen when only a very small amount of the food is eaten. How sick you get depends on your health and the amount of bacteria intake.

Symptoms would be diarrhea, abdominal cramping, vomiting, and fever.

Anyways, good luck with that!
