Improving my throws.?

Fred image

I am currently training in BJJ and boxing. I am experienced in both and have good knowledge of striking and ground fighting. But i have little knowledge of the throws that should be associated with BJJ (it focuses more on the ground work of course). I have access to a local aikido dojo and or a judo dojo. I am trying to put together the best combinations. Aikido or judo and why? all i wanna do is throw, i could care less for the finger locks aikido BS. but just wanted to know which is better, i'm no expert on aikido after all nor am i an expert on throws. But my main objective is learn traditional judo/jiujitsu throws. aikido is based off aiki jiu jitsu. thats my problem.

try fnding a penchak silat school. they use seeps and throws designed to break the back on the fall. and the throws are based off levers so you can take a big guy down. either way, never try a throw or lock or anything fancy without first hitting the person to make them cooperative,

I love Judo but if you're training in BJJ and boxing, then I would find someone to work and defend wrestling takedowns. If I'm to stick with the specific question at hand of "Aikido or judo and why?", then I'll choose the Judo option because I believe that the range and dynamics of that style will integrate the easiest with what you're already doing with no compromise in the area of it's effectiveness.

If your looking to fill in the gaps between BJJ and boxing for MMA style fights, I would go to the Judo dojo. BJJ is really just judo without the throws anyway.

If you want street fighing techniques, those BS finger locks are very effective.

Aiki-jujutsu, Aikido, and judo all have the same throws. The purpose behind the art is the difference. Don't discount the joint locks because the appear in Aiki-jujutsu as well. If you are wanting to improve take down skills I would go to the judo dojo. That was my first art 35 years ago. I only rose to brown belt there, but have since earned several black belts. The throwing and other take-down skills in judo dojo should fill your bill.

Good luck on your journey!
