How to Decorate Cars for Parades

Whether you are having a homecoming parade for your school or celebrating a holiday with a parade, there are many ways to decorate your car and join in on the festivities.  With a few supplies and a little creativity, you can have your car decorated and ready to ride.

Items Needed

  • Window chalk

  • Car streamers

  • Balloons

  • Ribbons

Decorating

  • Choose a color scheme that goes with the event the parade is for, such as school colors or red, white and blue for a patriotic celebration.

  • Look for window chalk to write messages on the windows of your car.  Window chalk comes in a variety of colors and stays in place until it is washed off.

  • Group several different balloons together, and tie them around the car antenna or side mirrors.  You can also fill these balloons with candy, and pop them later during the parade.

  • Look for car streamers to attach to the bottom edge of the car.  These streamers will hang down to the street to make the car resemble a parade float.

  • Look for decorations that go with the theme of the parade, and place them in the space between the backseat and the rear window.

  • Write messages and decorate sheets of poster board with markers, and attach them to the sides of the car. Be sure to not block windows or your view while driving.

  • Tie ribbons and streamers to the bumper of the car.  You can also tape them to the bumper if you are unable to tie them.

  • Find a unique antenna topper to place on top of the car antenna.
