    PERMANENT MAKEUP AT AMORE

    Posted 08:46 PM July 17, 2008

    Hi Everyone
The newest service to be offered by Amore for Hair is SofTap Permanent Cosmetics.  How would you like to wake up with your eyes and lips looking their best??

Many women begin to lose their eyebrows as they commence the change of life!  Hot Flashes are not enough, we have to lose our eyebrows, too?  Well, for some women, they may not have had much to begin with and for others what they have is turning grey and the result is......no eyebrows.  What can you do?  Well, this method of makeup is indeed a "tattoo" but not like those unfortunate dragon lady eyebrows you've seen tattoo'd on some.  This is a very fine process which is subtle and blends with what you already have WITHOUT having to pencil them in.

My favorite is eyelash enhancements.  This is where we put pigment in among your lashes right on the line, making your eyes look brighter and your lashes heavier without looking like you're wearing eyeliner.  Of course, for those women who "can't" live without eyeliner, we can do that too and you never have to struggle with your glasses (or your shakey hand) again while applying liner.  For those of you who always wanted fuller lips...Lip Enhancement.  This is where we line your ips with a natural color just outside the lip line.  The effect is amazing and actually plumps up the lips a bit as well.  Love that little mole but wish it was a little darker, like a beauty mark?  Done!  Just that easy.

Vitiglio and some scarring can be helped with cosmetic correction.  For breast cancer survivors, this method of cosmetic tatooing is used to create a nipple and areola lost to mastectomy.

Does it hurt???  A little but, we use a couple of different numbing agents and most people don't think its a big deal.

Does it look fake?  NO, it is extremely natural.  We can often correct work done previously that has become a wierd color

How long will it take to heal?  About a week, although full lip color can take longer.  There will be slight scabbing for eye work and beauty marks, moderate scabbing for brows and more scabbing for lips. You need not do anything to promote healing except putting a tiny bit of Neosporin on and leave it alone!

Is it safe?  We use only pre-packaged, pre-sterilized, single use applicators.  There are some medications and conditions which would amke it unwise to have this procedure done but for most people, it is not a problem.  We review all of these things prior to your appointment.

    Why choose a new hairdresser?

    Posted 08:34 AM December 21, 2007

The number one reason customers give for seeking a new hairdresser? Their hair is always the same! ha ha. A hairdresser would be foolish to change your hair on their own initiative, don't you think? Yet, most people feel that their hairdresser never changes their style. Most times a dissatisfaction starts out like this: Customer: "What do you think I should do with my hair"? Me: " What do you mean"? Customer: "I don't know" Me: "Well, is something bothering you"? Customer: "I don't know, maybe I just need a change" Me: "OK. Shall we try something new with the color"? Customer: "Oh, no. I really love my color. " Me: "Maybe a different style. Shorter bobs are pretty hot right now. The look is classic and would be a change that's not too extreme and shocking. Plus, it does not require a bunch of styling" Customer: "Well, I really like my length and so does my husband." Me: "I recall you did not like it when we tried layering your hair. Have you changed your feelings about that? Do you want to try a different kind of layering for a change in how your hair falls and moves"? Customer: "Oh, no. I definitely don't want layers"! Me: "How about trying to dry it differently ? Customer: "No, you know I won't do anything but wash it and go. I don't have time for that" Me: "Let's try out some products to reduce the frizziness" Customer: "I don't like products, my hair is softer without them" Do you see the pattern here? Sigh! "I want a change but, I don't want to do anything different" I'm here to tell you that you can't have it the same AND different! The customer will come to feel that I can't do anything different to her hair yet won't make the realization that I won't change her hair without her permission. We have all heard those horror stories about hairdressers who simply went ahead and did what they wanted to someone's hair and were never forgiven for it. What to do??????? Have a LONG talk with YOURSELF before you go to your next appointment and decide WHAT YOU ARE WILLING TO CHANGE in order to receive a change. Are you willing to spend a little more time with the blow dryer or flatiron? Willing to tell your husband he will have to deal with your hair being a little shorter/darker/ more colorful cause you're bored to death with keeping it the same for him?? Pick out some photos of hair that you like and be prepared to discuss with me what you like/don't like about these photos. I love talking about your hair. Thats what I do! Bring photos of yourself to your next appointment that show what it is about your hair you're sick of or what you DON'T want to change or would like to work toward. In other words, your hairdresser can only operate in communication with you. While I can give you ideas, I need your permission to create new ideas. My ideas are based on my past experiences with you and what I think looks good on you and what would work for your lifestyle as well as what's hot in hair right now and how your hair behaves. I hope this helps to give you permission to discuss your hair, at length, with your stylist. If you don't get anywhere in this conversation or your stylist doesn't seem to want to discuss your hair or is defensive or wants to do the same old thing, and you're sure you are willing to change, NOW it's time to find a new hairdresser!  -Hope

What is Color Correction and why is it SO EXPENSIVE???

    Posted 09:25 AM February 27, 2007

Color Correction is a broad subject.....it can mean anything from fixing a bad home dye job to professionally creating a dramatic color change.  Sometimes it means repairing "spots" left after a highlight or brassy tone left after fading of color occurs.

Why is it so expenisve?  Color correction can entail hours and hours of the colorists time, meticulously isolating pieces of hair and customizing the correction of each section.  A colorist may use as many as five or six different formulas of color at the same time on one section!!  It takes a great deal of expertise to know what color to apply to fix a condition.  Sometimes we use bright greens, reds and yellows to acheive this.

Color correction can be very stressful and labor intensive and the client is charged accordingly.
Often, it will take more than one session to repair a hair disaster, especially if the hair was severely damaged by bleaching.  Very damaged hair will not want to hold color and repeated layering of non-damaging color products are necessary
It can be frustrating to have to pay a new colorist to correct the work of your last colorist, we know.

Haircoloring is CHEMISTRY!  Make sure you feel good about who is performing chemistry on your hair or don't do it.  Try to find a stylist to develop a relationship with.  One who is always willing to talk about your hair with you is your best bet!

    Thermal Straightening

    Posted 07:50 PM September 27, 2006

Thermal Straightening is also referred to as Ionic or Japanese Straightening.  This is a service which is the exact opposite of a curly or wavy perm.  In Thermal Straightening, hair is altered from its usual curly, wavy, frizzy or "big" state to become smooth and straight, as if you had flat ironed it.  This is a relatively new service which has improved the results of straightening service from the old fashioned, very damaging service which produced only minimal results.  The technique now used takes about 3 to 4 hours and usually costs between $300 and $400, depending on the volume of your hair and is so awesome and glossy, there is nothing else like it!   This price is considerably less than surrounding salons.

Thermal Straightening is NOT recommended for very thin hair, hair that is bleached heavily or hair which is very damaged already.  We also suggest that you not receive this service if you like to sometimes wear your hair curly or wavy.   Thermal Straightening is most successful for people who "hate" their hair, have to flat iron it constantly and only want to wear it straight.  It should NEVER be performed by a non professional as the result could be that all of your hair breaks off!
