Hello Vital-ites! How nice to spend some time on the ice! I laid in this 18o ice bath for 10 mins! I jumped in after sitting in the 16o walkin freezer for another 10 mins. That was actually a little tough for me today. I was smooched in there with 3 other guys and my arm was pressed against the metal wall w/my feet in a puddle of h2o. My qigong teacher cracked a joke @ me and I couldn't seem to hold on to my center, like I had been able to do through all the other challenges. Yesterday we visited the Turkish bathouse to meet our new friend, the cold, in a cold air room & dunk. I was a champion, fully submerging into the cold tub with the greatest of ease for two sessions at upwards of 20 mins at 35o. Again the point isn't to tough it out. The point is to go within oneself and connect, harnessing the power of the cold & channeling it into generating internal Qi. No shivering, no suffering. Just serenity. Why would anyone get themselves cold just to learn how to internally generate heat, you ask? Because the cold is an excellent teacher. When your comfortable you don't come up against yourself. No advancement was ever made without leaning, or in our case submerging ourselves, into discomfort. And for those of you who need more than the deep feel good stuff- there are some practical applications too. The findings haven't been released yet, but at the Feinstein Institute the worlds top researchers on blood investigations conducted a study on Wim. They drew his blood pre, during, & post mediation on ice. What they found was astounding and aren't publizing unless they can replicate it with a group of "average" people. So we were sort of Wim's guinea pigs ;) To see if he could transmit this knowledge to others, or if he's the genetic anomaly the skeptics say he is. As for the astounding results, what was found in his blood during meditation that differed from pre & post measures were antibodies being generated by his nervous system. Which in and of itself isn't necessarily groundbreaking b/c we know of the nervous systems ability to create antibodies to heal. However these antibodies could conquer malaria & cancer. Now THATS an incredible discovery. So it is Wim's mission to prove scientifically & raise public awareness of one's abilty to heal themselves. Last Fall we received 10 months notice to find a new location after sharing space with the NewSchool of Architecture for about 6 1/2 years. Knowing we had until the end of  August to find and move into a new Spiritual Home, we lightly mused... Wouldn't it be nice to have a new place by Easter and celebrate our Anniversary in it?

We planted a seed thought that day, and through our Visioning process we nurtured it and watched it bloom in our hearts and minds. We found out that a building that caught my eye several times, and where we had focused our first local outreach program, had been vacated. Our Founder told me about it and gave me a phone number to call. Since it was near Christmas, I waited until January 2nd. By January 26th we had a Letter of Intent and on March 7th we picked up the keys to the shell of our New Spiritual Home.

The corner of 10th Ave. & G Street in the Heart of Downtown San Diego is one of the most consistently busy in the East Village. That was a huge factor in our decision-making process.  The space needed a lot of work, but it had great bones and was within 50 square feet of what we desired. Even the configuration and size of the rooms was in alignment with how we planned to do business as a family-oriented spiritual center.

Deciding we could get half of the new space cleaned up and painted well enough to set up a temporary sanctuary in time for Easter service, we committed to the early move. After all,  wouldn't it be nice to celebrate Easter and our 7th Anniversary in it?  What were we thinking?

We knew but have had confirmed over and over again that we are along for the ride on a fast-moving train of Faith and Truth. The transformation is amazing with old walls tumbling down, new walls rising overnight, food showing up along with volunteer labor, interior painting, carpeting - all the while holding classes, adding to an Affirmations List of what we wanted and seeing with fresh eyes the bounty and abundance of hte Universe as all these things and more just keep showing up as donations, gifts, and volunteer service.

How do you go from blight to brilliant in less than two weeks for less than pocket change? With the generous hearts and minds of those who believe in us and in our Vision and Mission. We're creating a Gratitude Wall in our new spiritual home where we can honor all those who have become a part of our hearts.

We are all creating a Work of Heart.
