I just got rid of a bunch of our 21′ x 34″ uprights with 10′ beams and wire decks. It took some dealing, but I made it happen. Here are some of the items that we have left:

 Good news!! Clayton's has secured a large inventory of used pallet racks from Massachussetts, and we expect delivery by Friday 5/8/09. This inventory will include nearly 200 pieces of 10' x 42" uprights, as well as a ton of 8' beams and wire decking to go with it. Summer is coming and I have said it before, and I will continue to say that now is the absolute best time to buy pallet racks for your warehouse. With the economy the way it is, we all understand that the lowest price is king. With this inventory, we will definitely be in a position to help you with whatever you may require for your storage needs.

We started our installation of 16 Bays of Push Back Pallet Rack on Wednesday Feb. 25th. At first we had a few hiccups, but everything is going very smoothly at this point. Our pallet rack installation crew is very good, and takes very little time to figure out the solutions to the problems they face. This job will take the better part of a week to finish, but when it does, our customer will have optimized the space in their warehouse to accommodate more product. As this installation progresses, I will update this blog to reflect the progress.

I have put a coupon up for our used pallet rack special that I wrote about in our last entry. I hope customers take advantage of this offer. I mean where else can you get 21' x 34" deep pallet rack uprights for just $55.00 each?? This is a fantastic deal any way you look at it. I am really excited for the end of winter as well. That just means that peoples spirits will be up (as much as they can be these days), which in turn should get them thinking about spring cleaning and their storage needs. I will advise though, it seems a lot of folks think that pallet racks cost very little money. In comparison, they do, but if someone needs pallet racking with a budget of $150.. that just won't work. We are dealing with solid steel that is responsible for storing heavy products with very little chance of falling on top of them when they are putting products on it. I would say that the investment is is well worth it. I look forward to seeing new customers this year, and helping them make sense of their warehouse/storage space. Yesterday, I released an E-mail campaign that highlights a few of our used pallet rack items that are in exceptional condition. We have decided to run some 21' x 34" pallet rack uprights for $55.00, 96" pallet rack beams for $19.50, and 34" wire decks for $12.00. The condition on these items is amazing. The uprights are able to be cut to 101", 148", and 195" making them a very good buy for just about anyone who needs pallet racks. Used pallet rack seems to be the way to go these days. Understandably, we are in a down economy, and everyone is watching their bottom line. The only thing I am concerned about, is that once the economy rights itself (which it will eventually), everyone is going to have a hodgepodge of pallet rack that may include many different styles or types. Some of these may or may not have components that are readily available in either new or used. In this case, a customer is going to end up losing some money as they will have pallet rack that is unable to be expanded, causing them to have to sell back the racking at a much lower rate and buy new, or at least try to find used in a style that is very common (generally this will be the teardrop style pallet racking). Why not make the investment in some new pallet rack now, which in the long run will be less expensive than used pallet rack. In this trying time, we all must look ahead to find the true value of our capital purchases, and whether they will be justified. In this case, I believe that they will be.

       Another week in the life here at Clayton's/CMS Rack. We have just received a boat load of used 96" Teardrop style beams that we picked up in Maryland. These things look fantastic. If I didn't know that they were bought second hand, I would have thought we bought them new. That's one of the most exciting parts of this business. Getting in quality used material that I can blast out to customers for a great price! I know it sort of sounds a little geeky, but this is what I enjoy. Pallet rack is one of the most interesting things to sell. There are so many variables that go into what type of rack different customers may need, besides, most of my working life I have been in some sort of customer service type position. At this point helping people get what they need at a fair price is more ingrained than ever.
