A Great Sports Bra- Is There One?

Posted 08:20 AM August 01, 2008

When I was first introducing the concept of Court 1 Tennis  I had an aquaintence tell me I should offer a great sports bra because they are hard to find.  I have heard this from many women as I travel in the different sports circles- is there a great sports bra?  Well, I for one don't need a great sports bra, so it is hard for me to answer.  But, I think Title Nine has tuned into the market.  If you get their catalog, then you know they have practically a whole separate catalog just for sports bras.

Title Nine offers a wide range of bras, from lounging around to full metal jacket!  They have a Barbell Rating system so you can choose your bra based on the level of support you need.  A full range of cup sizes are offered as well:  A to DDD.  Check it out- you are sure to find something that fits you and your activity.

Swim Cover-Up? Cute Summer Outfit? Or a Tennis Outfit?

Posted 10:45 PM June 30, 2008

I have to say, I'm confused!  I love the tennis outfits I have created for Court 1 Tennis, however, I just can't decide where they fit in this summer!  I have worn them to the pool over my bathing suit, I have worn them out and about, and I have worn them for tennis!  I always get great comments from strangers and friends on how cute, fresh, summery my outfits are.

So how to I explain what I have on?  Do I say I just came from tennis whether I did or not?  I don't think so!  These outfits go anywhere in the summer months.  What is wrong with wearing something comfortable, bright, and upbeat?  You can look good no matter where you are going.  Tired of your same dumpy shorts and t-shirt or yoga pants?  Try a cute skirt with a tank top that looks like you have something going on when you really just threw it on!

Wimbledon is Here! Get the Latest Tennis News!

Posted 10:12 AM June 24, 2008

I am so excited about Wimbledon this year!  I am getting up early to watch the TV coverage of Wimbledon and I'm watching the online news.  I have found a great online news source, onTHEBASELINE.com.  On the Baseline is dedicated to covering women's tennis news in a professional and informative manner.  This isn't your normal "blog", the site is interesting, exciting, and has articles written by professionals.  But, don't count yourself out - there is plenty of opportunity to submit your comments.

I mentioned in my last blog a great networking site called Tennisopolis.  This is a social networking group/site dedicated to building the tennis community.  You can create your own group, comment on entries, find other folks to play tennis with, maybe even find a vacation spot to trade!  The Tennisopolis group is through www.ning.com, social networking site.

For fashion news, I like Tennis Served Fresh.  You will see your favorite pro's fashion sense on and off the court.

Posted 11:25 AM June 14, 2008

I have found a great way to connect with the tennis community - the Tennisopolis Group on Ning.com.  Ning is a new social network site and it is really coming on strong.  Facebook, My Space, etc. are so crowded these days it is hard to get through the noise.

Check it out!

Local Tennis Clubs Sponsor Women's Benefit Challenge

Posted 07:00 PM May 17, 2008

Four Seattle area tennis clubs are sponsoring the Women's Benefit Challenge benefiting Washington Women in Need.  This event is in its 20th year and it will surely be the best ever.  Teams from the four clubs will compete in a round robin tournament, then the Bellevue Club will host a luncheon and silent auction.

Court 1 Tennis is honored to support this great event by donating a silent auction item.

Our Mission
Our vision is to improve the lives of low income women in Washington through financial assistance for health care and education.

This mission drives every aspect of Washington Women In Need (WWIN). We strive to improve the quality of women's lives by supporting their educational goals; we improve the quality of their lives by helping them maintain their physical and mental health. We work to improve the quality of their lives by treating them with dignity and respect in all their encounters with staff, volunteers, and Board members.

We believe that by improving the lives of low income women, we improve the lives of their families and the strength of our community.

When Washington Women In Need was founded in 1992, the founding Board members determined the areas in which there was the most need and the least existing support for low-income women:

Since that time, WWIN has provided financial assistance in these four areas to almost 3,900 low income women and given almost 4,500 grants. This life-changing support is made possible through the vision and generosity of our founder, Julia Pritt, and the donations of over 3,000 individuals, businesses, corporations, foundations, and other service organizations.

WWIN receives no federal or state government funding for its programs. It charges no fee for services. Upon founding WWIN, Ms. Pritt committed to paying 100% of the administrative operating expenses of the organization. This incredible generosity means 100% of your donation goes directly to make grants for low income women.
