Caitlin Farrell, a Cypress Lake High School graduate who currently plays for Wake Forest women's soccer team will be part of the United States U23 Women's National Team. She heads to London to play in two exhibition games against England's U23 team as a defender. She is among 18 college players to compete in the England Tour from July 1st-10th. Being a part of the U23 team is one step away from the Women's National Team, who competes in the Olympics and the World Cup for U.S. Soccer. Players like Mia Hamm, Brandi Chastain, and Abby Wambach have played on the U23 team before moving to the Women's National Team.

She has proven herself to be an excellent soccer player. Some of her accomplishments include:

Four-year letterwinner at Cypress Lake HS under head coach (and father) Patrick Farrell, named All-Southwest Florida three times, two-time all-state first team selection, all-state honorable mention pick, All-Southwest Florida Player of the Year, helped Cypress Lake to 2003 district championship, played club ball with Florida Premier for five years and with the Strikers for five years, participated on the Florida ODP team for five years, ODP Region III tournament champions in 2004.

Farrell currently plays NCAA Division 1 soccer for Wake Forest. She is believed to be the first and only Southwest Florida soccer player to be chosen for a U23 National Team, male or female.
