How I started my cleaning business?

Dear friends

I just want to take a moment to tell you. How I got  stared in the  house cleaning  business?
I attended Modesto junior college, were i was taking night class. I need a job during the day were i could work any time. My sister and I decided to start a cleaning business. We had no clue what we had to due. So the first thing we did was get a dictionary and find a good name for our new  business. I look up the meaning of clean to see if they had any other segustiong. Nothing came out so i keep looking until i got to the letter f were i found the meaning of " fabulous extremely pleasing or successful'' So that what we wanted to please our customers and be successful in our business. I had no money so my sister give me $60.00 to buy business cards and cleaning supplices. We past around about 1000 business cards and nothing happen we give up. I found another job and forgot about the cleaning business. A year went by and i got married. I told my husband about the cleaning business and he decided to give it one more shot and it work.  We got the business license and the insurance that were require. Time have past and i just want to thank all those people that trues me with their home. I love cleaning homes. I feel that I'm helping others with my work. To this day I don't know everything but in the way many client have give me tips on how to run my business. My team and I take pride on our work and put our best effort every time.  We like to give our customer  the best quality service for their money.  If you have any sugestion on how i could git new client feel free to write. Thank you

Farmer Insurance has the best prices for boned you could get it for 10,000 dollar and you only pay $39.00 monthly. general liability insurance you need to get too cover 1 million dollars that how they sell the insurance . Pass around business card but do it on the weekend you have better look that the home owner would get it. It you pass them during the week for likely is going to be turn alway by the housekeeper. I'm guessing that eco means all natural product if that the case your price should be higher. Theres is a mathematical way of fining the price you want to charge . Go to your local city they have the application for license you pay about $100 for the fist time and $75 year plus tax on the money that you make very three months you have to report
if you have any other question ill be happy to answer

I just become unemployed and decided to start a cleaning business. I need to know how do I report my earning and how often to I have to report it. I know that I need a business license and purchase liability insurance/bonded. I'm having trouble generating clients. Can anyone give me advice.

Thanks,

hi Betsy

you could report every three months if you make to much money or ones a year. You could ask the person that did your regular tax they could help you. write down the car miles that you use for your business, office supplies , if you use your on vacuum that is a write off, and all the supplies that you use for cleaning. your insurance cost for your business. local tax that you pay every three months. advertisement. Its not ease getting clients it take sometime and the best thing to do is to pass around business cards ask your clients too tell their friends about you .

good luck

Hi, My sister and I started house cleaning on the side for a family member. Now, that my sister lost her job, I was thinking of doing it permanently. The question is that how much do I have to put up for the business? I know, I have to get bonded and licensed. I'm thinking of getting the license and insurance under my name and my sister will be working under me. I just want to know how much do I have to put up and how do I claim this at the end of the year? Since, I have my full time job as well. I don't want to end up paying a lot at the end of the year. What is the right and best way for me to do?

Thanks

I love running my own business. No insurance, no taxes, no supplies...just me & whoever I can find. When I price them too low, I start giving them less time. When I find someone who will pay more I take that job, and stop going to the cheapskates. Just act real nice and your customers will take care of you. They are afraid that they might come off as arrogant. Once you got this, you can do just about anything at that house.

When starting your cleaning business make sure you are not trying to spend too much. Take advantage of the free things out their like free web page sites, free online appointment bookers etc. I seen a lot of failures with people who spend unnecessary money you have to remember its a low cost operation. You will need to figure out your areas prices so you can compete and not over charge. Last but not least you will need to make actual agreements that the customer will sign for service to do this you will need to think of all the bad things that can happen like an unsatisfied customer. Give them the option to contact you before trying to pursue legal action. You should look at the difference of doing a llc vs corp In ca llc is best well i cant give it all to ya but good luck with your businesses.

My God, you people are a sorry bunch of losers. I wouldn't let a single one of you illiterate ex-cons into my home. How sad that you make the decent, genuine, professional home cleaning services look bad. Stay in your country and/or trailer parks where you belong.

I just became unemployed. I do petsitting and house cleaning for 3 or 4 people on the side while I was working full time. Now I would like to get more people to get more work and maybe just work a "part time" job. I have made up some cards for myself but don't want to have to go into an actual "business" and all. I just want to do this as a fun side job. My question is how do I go about advertising myself without having to into the whole going into business for myself thing???

My grandaughter called asking me to set up a cleaning business. I've set up many businesses; however, when I got to the insurance, bonding, etc. she decided no way. I have been reading these comments and if you are running a cleaning or any kind of service without insurance - watch out! Anyone, at any time, can select you as a thief or anything that is broken or burnt, etc. - you will be sued!! You will be sorry you didn't take the time or money to get some kind of coverage. Also, it might be nice if you coudl speak and write some English since you are working for Americans. Cleaning is a good business but it can also put you in the hole financially if you aren't covered for loss or damages. I can't imagine going into any business without covering my a____. I read all ot this stuff about free - but business isn't free.

Hi,

I run a cleaning agency here in England UK. The rules vary some what , we don`t require a licence to operate a cleaning business, public liability insurance isn`t compulsory, but for peace of mind it is essential. Although I do not employ cleaners directly, employer`s liability is a legal requirement. I offer a free job finding service for cleaners. They are self employed, responsible for their own tax and national insurance insurance contributions. The client pays the cleaner and I take a small percentage from the client .This goes towards strict vetting procedures, public/ employer`s liability insurance and admin. It does take time to get established but don`t give up ,
YOU WILL GET THERE!

Thank you for the advice and encouragement! And PS to Hermione Hairpie, sounds like you are jealous! While there are some grammatical mistakes, the advice is sound. Plus, consider that this person has probably come from another country and English is not their primary language. I doubt that a sourpuss like you could make yourself understood in a foreign country to find a potty, much less run a successful business. If you can't say something nice, maybe you shouldn't say anything at all.

I'm trying to start a cleaning business with my husband. Illinois requires license, bonding and insurance. I'm still unsure of what a bond is, exactly. I also cannot even get an estimate on how much i'd be paying for bonding or insurance. Can anyone help me with numbers?
Thanks.
