Wiccan Symbols

Wiccans Pagans and Witches of all pasts and traditions use symbols for many things such as rituals, spells, ceremonies and in everyday life. There are many different symbols with many different meanings. Each symbol has a basic meaning but they all mean different thins and represent different feelings and actions to different people.

This is not a full list but a list of common symbols.

The five-pointed star within a circle is the most common Pagan symbol, and it is typically used to identify oneself as a Pagan or Wiccan. The five points represent the 4 elements plus the spirit, and the circle connects them all. A five-pointed star without the circle is sometimes called a pentagram, rather than a pentacle. Based on numerology, the five points means the pentacle symbolizes the Earth element and can be used as an Earth symbol on an altar.

What the pentacle means to me

The inverted (or upside down) pentacle is a symbol of some reputation. It is typically associated with Satanism, though that is not a completely accurate description. The true emblem of the Church of Satan is the sigil of Baphomet, which is a symbol with a goat's head and an inverted pentacle. Within Wicca, the upside down pentacle stands for the 2nd degree in some traditions.

Yes, this is the symbol from the popular TV show "Charmed". Why they chose the triquetra for their Book of Shadows, I would say for the protection the symbol carries, or possibly because it's exotic without being threatening. Like the triskele, this Celtic symbol embodies the sacred number 3, as seen in the 3 phases of the Goddess (maiden, mother, crone) and the 3 elements of nature (land, sky, sea). During the period of early Christianity, the triquetra took on further meaning as the Holy Trinity. This symbol is also seen with a circle going though it.

The triple moon is a Goddess symbol that represents the Maiden, Mother, and Crone as the waxing, full, and waning moon. It is also associated with feminine energy, mystery and psychic abilities. You often see this symbol on crowns or other head-pieces, particularly worn by High Priestesses.

The short and traditional meaning for the ankh symbol is "everlasting life". This symbol is a hieroglyph seen in countless ancient Egyptian carvings, usually held in hand by Gods and pharaohs to show how they preside over life (in other words, are immortal). In these images, the ankh is held by the loop rather than the base. The ankh is a popular symbol among Pagans, likely due to the similarity to a Christian cross which makes the ankh much less shocking to others, as compared to a pentacle.

The seven pointed star has a few names: septagram, septacle, Elven star or fairy star. The number seven corresponds to the spirit realm, which is why this symbol is associated with elves or fairies. There are no set representations for each of the points, but they are sometimes labeled: earth, air, fire, water, above, below and within. The septagram is also associated with astrology because the classical view of the sky contained seven planets.

The unicursal hexagram is a variation of the 6-pointed star. The more traditional way of drawing a 6-pointed star is in the double triangles of the Star of David. But Aleister Crowley created his own design, to create a symbol that could be drawn in one continuous line. The number 6 represents unity and balance, specifically balance between man and the Divine.

This maze-like symbol is associated with the triple aspect of the Greek goddess Hecate. She is considered a 'dark' goddess by some, and rules over cross-roads and the Underworld. Hecate is also known as the Goddess of the Witches. This isn't a particularly common symbol among Wiccans, but you do see it occasionally.

The Eye of Horus can be a bit of a confusing symbol. It is seen sometimes as the right or sometimes as the left eye. The left eye is Eye of Horus and is connected with the moon. When it's the right eye, it's the Eye of Ra, and associated with the sun. Though some sources say there is no distinction at all. The Eye represents the eye that was lost by Horus when he fought with Seth over the murder of his father, Osiris. The symbol is worn for protection and to ward off evil spirits.

There are many variations on the basic triskele (or triple spiral) symbol. The one illustrated here is very simple to illustrate the basic look of the symbol. The triskele is a Celtic symbol, and symbolizes the power of life and rebirth. It combines the spiral (often used to illustrate the cycle of life) and the number 3 is a sacred number, as seen in the phases of the triple Goddess. This symbol is also referred to as a triskelion.

have to agree with those that say that the course of action taken is something that should resonate with your own religious or spiritual background. But I will tell you of two different banishings that are the most popular, Roman Catholic Judeo-Christian and modern day pagan. Choose the one that you feel most comfortable with.

In Christianity, St. Benedict is the patron saint of exorcism. While many Christians that are not Catholic (universal) do not believe in calling on saints and angels, he can be called upon through the Divine authority of YHVH. The instruments to use are a Benedictine cross, if you can find one, and the latin prayers that are inscribed into it. Devils become very frustrated by this, because it lessens their power. First purify the four corners of your room with blessed holy water and then consecrate the four corners of your room by burning frankincense and myrrh pebbles on a small piece of charcoal and "smudging" or burning them in those four corners. Anoint your forehead with blessed olive oil and burn a white candle as your light. While holding up the cross, you say the latin exorcism that is inscribed on the cross. Call upon St. Benedict to assist you in this work. Most Catholic priests would tell you not to delve into the "Exorcismus en Satanem" but find an exorcist that is experienced and approved by the bishop. I would just say to use your own judgement on that and most likely stick to the latin prayer that is incribed on the Benedictine cross that you have obtained. Afterwards it is a good idea to read something like the book of Tobit or the book of Enoch that were cut out of the Bible, but I would highly suggest the book of Revelations, as I had a family member drive spirits out of her house with the authority of this book. But be confident and do this with grace, not anger or force.
The modern pagan way (particularly Wiccan) would be the banishing ritual of the pentagram, which I won't elaborate on because I personally prefer to keep these ways secret in the way that they deserve, but are very easy to find in almost any book of Wicca.
But always stay balanced, as negative is not necessarily evil and positive can be. Choosing either side of the duality is not the key, but the balance is. Also work on strengthening any weaknesses you might have, as these are the first for an unclean spirit to target.

God has called ministers to the mission field of America, Praise God for our home missionaries!
He may be a chaplain that serves in the slums of Los Angeles, maybe one who ministers to soldiers.
She may work with homeless women or orphan kids in Mississippi, or they may serve elderly in
homes left alone and sick by family in New York. Perhaps, they help disaster victims across our country.
Or maybe they are home missionaries to prisoners in Louisiana.

Our own Missionaries here often go unnoticed by the local church,
local body of Christ and those right there around them as they faithfully
sacrifice many comforts as they serve.
Yet look at the millions reached right in our own big cities and small towns.
We may not notice these warriors of Jehovah.
Yet like all missionaries, they are reaching so many people that would otherwise may
never hear the very message we all long to give them:
"Jesus Christ is so in love with you. He died on the cross for your sins for my sins.
He changed my life and healed my hurting heart, and Jesus can change your life too.
Let Him have your heavy burden and make you a new creation "

AMEN a celebration in Heaven for precious souls added in the family of God.
This IS our home Mission Field:
our own backyards, schools, jails, rehabs, gangs, homeless, abused, abandoned…
right here America!

There are so many of those who minister to prisoners, a dark American culture that most
of us simply cannot fathom.
Prisons, jails and gangs have a dangerous world of their own making –
their own leaders, loyalties, rules and traditions.
Outsiders especially Christians risk much going into places where they at first are not wanted.
Yet God moves and saves so many. Most never have a Bible.
Like all missionaries, that are solely supported by gifts and offerings
who never receive a salary from a prison, a government allowance or get paid
any where at all they need help.
There is a major lack of support and knowledge in the US for our US missionaries!
Most rely solely upon the church community and individual Believers,
on ME, on YOU, on us to support their ministry work.
I think the lack of support for true Godly American Missionaries has a lot to do with
BIG TV EVANGELISM, the millions raised on TV for Godly causes as well as the scandals
has the Christian mindset completely off of the "fools" for Christ that like our Lord Jesus and His deciples
don't have a glamourous calling.

When Jesus said: "Go into all of the world and preach the Gospel,"
He started with a command to take the Good News to our own lost communities.
Home missionaries, like foreign missionaries, have committed themselves to a lost world.
God calls those to stay here yet the places they go are much like going into distant lands
to bring the hope of Christ, just like going deep into the down and dirty of this world
we would never ever want to enter.
They go into new, hard to reach areas, and plow new ground, oftentimes in hostile settings.
When a crack head smokes no more, the thief steals no more and the blind now see,
yes THEN everyone rejoices and someone might notice.
But are you and I there for the work?
Are we there when the preacher cries because he has no gas to get to the next jail 100 miles away?
Are we there when our own missionaries in our own town are silently doing without?
Sadly we usually fail to help.
However, we DO have the opportunity to serve God, His Servants and the lost.
We can so easily help them by sending them Bibles to give, our gifts and our prayers.

Yes we all have the opportunity to go with them.
Are you interested in fulfulling our Lord's Great Commission by raising funds
for Bibles for the "out there" servants to share with the hurting?
We all know God is the only hope and comfort that will truly help the seeking.
His Word will bring diliverence and a NEW BIRTH! Help send a Bible today.
God will bless them, you and everyone involved! Eternally
at that. Plant a seed today, God will sent the ones to water and God will give the increase,
and blessings will abound pressed down and over flowing both in this life and when Jesus comes to take us home!

of the our LORD's work He has called His children to do, so ALL of His Kingdom children
will come into the fold so we can finally GO HOME!
Christian, provide Bibles to others because it was HIS WORD that saved you,

How blessed would you like to be? How rewarded Church body
can you bear to be? What better joy than knowing God Almighty

I pray The Holy Spirit move us ALL,
each and every one of God's children to
support the ongoing work that Missions, Outreaches, Ministries and individuals here in America are doing.
