Daytona Motorcycle Accident: Attorney on Safety

Attorney Doug Bills Safety Blog
As a fellow rider and group leader, I know that the draw of thousands of motorcycles in Daytona during the hottest and liveliest time of the year is hard to resist.  Just the sheer number of beautiful roaring bikes is enough to tempt the busiest of us to take some time and unplug as we assume our weekend warrier roles with our leather and finely tuned machines.
However, as a motorcycle accident attorney, I also know that with the risk of such huge numbers of motorcycles and automobiles sharing the same roads, danger can raise its ugly head anywhere.  Doug Bills, attorney and avid motorcycle enthusiast, says that according to recent estimates, within the past year alone, eight people died in accidents during Daytona Bike Florida Week and this year it may be worse than 2007. Five people have now been killed since the start of the 2008 Daytona Beach Bike Week. While the first three deaths seem to have been caused by rider error, the last two to die were possibly the fault of another driver. It is a shame operators of motor vehicles are not more careful to look for motorcycles. What can riders do? We can use our loud pipes and ride in groups that aren't chaotic. One suggestion is to ride early in the morning, before alcohol gets into play with automobile drivers. In any case, we cannot be too careful. Ride with your head not your ego and keep your eyes peeled at all times. To learn more about the safety of group riding, join the Seminole Couty Cruiser Group or go to www.Bills-Redon.com and click "group riding information". Be safe, have fun out there.
