Bridgewater, NJ – The Bridgewater law firm of Norris McLaughlin & Marcus, P.A., will co-host a breakfast seminar with the Somerset County Business Partnership entitled Bankruptcy ABCs for Healthy Companies: What You Need to Know When Your Customer or Supplier Goes Bankrupt. The seminar will be held on Friday, March 27, 2009, from 7:30 to 9:30 a.m. at the Bridgewater office of Norris McLaughlin&Marcus. Morris S. Bauer, a Member of the firm and its Bankruptcy and Creditors’ Rights Group, will be the speaker.
The seminar will help business owners understand the difference between Chapters 7, 11 and 13, what a Debtor-in-Possession is, what a Creditors' Committee is, the role of the United States Bankruptcy Trustee, what preference payments are, how to file a proof of claim, what happens to pre-existing leases and other contracts, and how a plan of reorganization or liquidation gets assembled, approved and implemented. In addition, he has represented one of the largest satellite dish operators in federal and state court litigation.
Bauer is a member of the New Jersey State Bar Association (Debtor/Creditor Section), Morris County Bar Association, the American Bankruptcy Institute and the Turnaround Management Association. He is admitted to practice in New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania, the U. S. District Court for the District of New Jersey and the Southern and Eastern Districts of New York, and the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Third Circuit. Bauer earned his J.D. from Hofstra University School of Law and his B.S. from Dickinson College.
