If you were raised like me, the term lawyer does not cross your mind until your have a problem.  Normally an arrest or a lawsuit.  Some of us are a little more aware and add wills to the list of words and phrases we connect to lawyer, but that is normally the extent of it. 

We don't think of legal advice as necessary.  Stop and think for a minute, how many legal issues you are involved in right now?  Nearly half of all Americans have an ongoing legal issue at this very moment.  Just because it is not pressing does not mean it is not legal. 

Something as minor as signing up for cell phone service is a legal issue.  You are signing a contract with the provider.  Do you read and understand every bit of the legalese and fine print?  That contract was drawn up by a lawyer representing the service provider so they are represented in the transaction, odds are you weren't.  When you have an issue with that provider, who will you turn to for advice?  Even more importantly what options did you waive by signing the contract?

By having  a lawyer review a contract before you sign it, you know exactly what is contained in the fine print.  You know your rights for disputes with the provider.  You also know if the contract outlines a fair exchange between you and the provider.  This way when you have a dispute, you already know and understand your options.
