THE BIG TWEET
Last night I was one of about 300 local business owners who attended a free seminar given by the Creative Economy Association of the North Shore. The location of the event was in a beautiful new building for the arts at Endicott College. The networking energy of the attendees was one of the best I have seen so far this year and thanks go out to those who planned it and got an excellent speaker, Ben Bassi of Common Places, who helped us all to understand how Tweeting [texting up to 140 characters] on Twitter.com can help your business.
There is tons on the internet that explains what Twitter is and how to TWEET. The best way is to set-up your own account. The ideal situation is to have a smart phone so you can TWEET from wherever you are and receive TWEETS from those you follow instantly. However, you can still have an account without a smart phone set-up. It is much similar to how you set-up your facebook or merchantcirecle profile. Fill in your location, bio and picture.
Beyond using Twitter for fun, this is an excellent free marketing tool that could help your business compete. It does require a little time to remain active with your TWEETS, but the great part is that your followers can quickly send your message on to their friends.
So, if you are a small business or a large one....how can TWEETING help?
Branding&Networking;
Community Building
Brand Reputation Management
Customer Service
Prospect and Market Research
Selling
Bottomline and in simple language.....if you use this free tool creatively you can position yourself better by creating a loyal following, stay tuned in to what the competition is doing, what people are saying about your business and find people who want your products or service. Contests can easily be launched with this great technology and excitement and wow factor can make a small business become a success overnight.
It does take time and effort, but with every new marketing trend there is a time to jump in with both feet before you are left behind and NOW is the time. People who chose to have a websites early on when the technology first came out and saw the instant bump in business from the cyber shoppers can tell you that waiting til everyone else is doing it means you lose the opportunity to stand out in your field.
Purple Diamond is a marketing coaching business and we are helping our clients understand where and when to best use the new technology. We are new to Twitter.com and our name on Twitter is PurpleDiamond89. Look for us and feel free to post questions here or add more information.
All my best to your success! ~ Charlene, owner of Purple Diamond LLC
