Dear Clients and Friends,
I have been back in Allegan for almost 4 years and I don't think I ever actually published
in one place, all of what I do or the licenses and certificates I hold. Aside from having
my BA in French and Theatre from Barat College in Chicago, I am a licensed
skin care specialist (Aesthetician), a certified Image Consultant, a certified Color
Specialist, an ordained minnister and a professional makeup artist holding
several certificates in photography makeup, video, film and camouflage makeup
applications.
This, however, wasn't good enough for me. As time went on, I became
interested in the energy of color and began to take workshops in the spiritual
metaphysical and energy. This led me to become a Certified Teaching Reiki
Master and Certified Energy Radiance Practitioner. I am certain, that even as I
am teaching and treating in this field, I still have a thirst for even more understanding in all of these fields. Last Saturday, for example, I attended a full day workshop facilitated by my teacher and mentor from Arizona. (Will I ever get enough?!)
All of this I pass on to my clients and friends who ask, and it has brought a brilliance of layered levels to all
areas of my cosmetic work as well as my spiritual and metaphysical work. (Even Samuel Clemens said if he had a bridge that needed building, he would rather hire a poet who built bridges than a bridge builder who did nothing but build bridges!)

Sunshine slightly scarce.  Still a little chilly.  I'm sitting in front of my computer with chilly fingers wondering just what could warm them up (other than bringing out my mittens!).

For years I have used and sold a brand of mascara called "Kiss Me"  (and more recently they have renamed themselves after their manufacturer "Blinc", which always made more sense to me anyway).  I offer my own brand of water resistant mascara, medium priced and infused with seaweed and other botanicals but I used the Blinc especially for athletes, brides and anyone that has a problem with dark circle smudges under the eyes.  Blinc had patented a kind of 'pvc' piping for lashes, tubing them making the product water proof, smudge proof (really!), tear proof and can be removed with just water.

Within a year, they had changed the formula, from my perspective, because suddenly the product began flaking and leaving little specs of the product on the skin under the eyes if left on too long.  The original was so perfect that you could cry all night and it would be the freshest part of your makeup, literally looking like you had just applied it, in the morning after.  (As testified by a friend/client of mine who broke up with a boyfriend while wearing it!)

Still, for weddings, tennis, or just for every day it remained my choice for those plagued by "raccoon eyes".  The only drawback was that it retailed for $25.00 (+ $15 for the conditioner that was to be applied first).

Just a few weeks ago I caught a glimpse of a commercial that claimed to "tube" the lashes.  It was not Blinc.  I almost dismissed it as a fluke...  something I heard wrong.  Then I talked to the client/friend who had worn it while breaking up with her boyfriend all those years ago and she, who never watches television, mentioned it to me.  I hadn't heard it wrong!  I started looking for it.  And I found it at a local super store in their makeup department:  Loreal Paris,  "Double Extend Beauty Tubes Mascara" .   It was only :

$8.95!!!!  For both Conditioner AND Mascara only slightly less in quantity.

I bought it.. Tested it... Even wore it over night.  

The result?    Loreal was like the original formula.  Loreal went on great, stayed great and was less than a quarter of the cost. 

I can't make money on this one.  I can't sell it.  But I did buy it in both colors:  black and blackest black  (I wish it came in all colors!).  And it is now a permanent part of my professional box.  And I will recommend it to my clients who were previously buying Blinc.... and my future clients who would benefit by this type of mascara.

It's not for everyone.  It takes getting used to.  And sorry Blinc...  It runs circles around yours in all categories!

 I just completed my training in Energy Radiance in Phoenix a few weeks ago.  This training includes 96 hours of classroom work, assignments and finally 17 Practical sessions on different subjects with written evaluations.  Between now and September I'll be looking for willing participants to experience this amazing energetic healing method.  I need 5 more "practicals" in order to receive my final Certification.  I do have to charge for these practicals (part of the requirement) but I believe you will find it is well worth it.  For more information or to schedule an appointment, please call 616-881-3901.  I will answer all of your questions and fill you in on the payment requirements!

Throughout my career as an Aesthetician I have always been concerned with the overall health of my client's skin.  I have always refused to promote or sell products, no matter the trend, that would hinder or damage skin even if the damage wouldn't show until years later.  (Prime example is the trend a few years back for the lip color that didn't budge... made with toxic ingredients similar to nail  polish that dry the lips and create a cycle of dry, peel, moisturize, start to heal, then dry again.)

After a long, hard winter most skin is dehydrated and drawn.  A natural remedy for this can be found in your kitchen (or at the grocery produce section).  After cleansing and toning in the evening apply a mask of mashed strawberries and yogurt.  Leave on for 10 - 15 minutes; rinse, then apply another mask of mashed avocado with a drop of peppermint essential oil.  Leave this on for 10-15 minutes.  After cleansing and toning once more, apply your favorite nightime moisturizer. 

This combination of masks works to create more blood and oxygen flow to the facial skin as well as allowing it to soak up any needed vitamins and oils necessary for optimum colligen and elastin production. 

If you follow this skin treat with drinking a tall glass of pure water and a good night's sleep on your back you will be amazed at how fresh your skin looks and feels in the morning. 

Always take the time to give yourself a patch test, even with natural ingredients, to make sure you do not have an allergic reaction.  And anytime you stimulate blood flow to the skin, you can expect it to try to expell toxins in the form of a break out or two.  This is normal so please only do the above routine when you have at least a week to 2 weeks before a special event so your skin has time to fully work through any release.

We had such fun last night at the $15 Chakra Balancing Class last night.  Just enough people to make it fun and interesting without getting lost. 

We had open discussion about the energy of Chakras, their connections to the Aura, the physical body and the emotions we experience.  We shared stories of being drained by "energy suckers" as well as feeling different levels of vibration. 

We practiced with pendulums clearing, cleansing and purifying our chakras using oils and rocks (or "crystals" if you prefer!).

The highlight of the night for me was when, at the end of the class we actually practiced feeling our chakras, and one of the students actually had an "AHA" moment where she made a connection in her opening energetic (or psychic) awareness.  Well, that and the visits by our resident ghosts!

Thanks to all of my students last night!  It was such fun and it makes me feel so blessed that I get to do what I do and call it my job!!!
