My son often gets nose bleeds at night would Jin Shin Jyutsu help him?
Riversong Massage & Energetic Healing Arts, March 17, 2010
Dry air can sometimes cause this condition, so a simple solution may be adding a humidifier to your son's room. Also saline nose sprays & gels can help as well.
We often treat this condition by working with a few of the organ pathways, one of which is the Stomach: If you would like to try it yourself its fairly easy to do, though a trained practitioner is able to determine what is called for by taking what is known as a pulse reading. Other flows may also be recommended based on the indications of the pulse readings.
One of the books on the market with short-cut versions of the flows is:
The Touch of Healing by Alice Burmeister. It can be found on Amazon or through the Jin Shin Jyutsu website.
If you'd like to try this to see how it works, here it goes:
Begin with sitting on your son's left side:
1) Place your right hand finger tips on the bottom of his left cheekbone
Place your left hand finger tips on the underside of his left collarbone
2) Hold points up to 3 to 5 minutes - Move the left fingers to the right front base of the ribcage
3) Slide the left hand under his back and hold the right back base of the ribcage
Hold 3 to 5 minutes
4) Left fingers move to the left front base of ribcage - Hold 3 to 5 minutes
5) Left fingers move to the inner right leg - approx. his handspan wide above the inner knee joint - Hold up to 3 to 5 minutes
6) Left fingertips go to the outside of the right knee joint and slide down to hold the bony region about 1 to 2 finger widths below the outer knee joint.
7) Left fingers move to the right side tip of the middle toe & hold.
This flow is also helpful for TMJ, Teeth & Gums, Jaw/Jawline
Bloody or stuffy nose
Problems of the mouth - dryness, chapped lips, cold sores
Swelling of the neck, throat numbing
Knee cap Pain/Swelling
Ankle & Groin Pain

hi, were you near ottsville anytime at a farmers market in the summer. i had a mini massage and i can't remember their name.
joann wagner, February 01, 2010
Good Morning Joann,
While I do frequent the Farm Market there, its as a shopper, rather than doing the chair massages that are offered there. My massage studio is located along the Delaware River, on River Road in Point Pleasant, PA. just 6 miles north of the New Hope bridge & approx. the same distance south of the Frenchtown Bridge.
I am a certified massage therapist, for close to 20 years now, and offer unique, customized sessions with a flowing blend of techniques, specializing in both acute & chronic pain, as well as relaxation & stress reduction. The addition of Hot River Stones is the perfect addition
to the whole experience of receiving the Riversong Signature sessions, which are available in either 90 or 120 minutes treatments.
For both my client's health, and my own, all the products I use are organic, paraben free oils & creams, to nourish & nurture the skin. The massage table is deeply padded and heated with a full length table warmer, soft flannel sheets & blankets for your comfort.
If you are interested in a massage, and have questions what to expect, or have particular problems you're hoping to resolve please feel free to call me at 215-297-8899
Wishing you a wonderful day,
Deborah Engisch-Platt, CMT, Jin Shin Jyutsu Practitioner

Is it possible to eliminate chronic pain with massage therapy?
Anonymous, February 22, 2009
A great deal depends on the underlaying cause of your chronic pain. In many cases the answer to your question is yes. At the very least it can be a wonderful choice, with many benefits in managing both acute & chronic pain.
There are many reasons why chronic pain occurs, however.
It may stem from an old injury, which resulted in scar tissue, also known as adhesions. This can happen from motor vehicle accidents, especially in cases of whiplash, which often result in long term limited range of motion through the neck & shoulder region. Sports related injuries from as far back as childhood & high school will often come back as pain ior stiffness, in our adult years. We also don't recover as quickly, or as well, from injuries as we age, especially when compared to how the body seemed able to bounce back quickly during the childhood years.
Chronic pain can have it's roots in other health conditions, and may require support or treatment from other practioners. These may be your medical doctor, a chiropractor, or even a nutritionist. While the addition of a nutritionist may seem to be an odd one, it really isn't. The foods, and supplements we take into our bodies can make a huge difference in our overall health & in pain reduction as well.
Another way to help yourself deal with chronic pain may be for you to become more active. This may mean taking time out to take regular walks, simple exercises & incorporating stretching into your daily routine. You may want to consider trying out a few different things to see what appeals to you, from joining an ongoing yoga class, to doing strength training at a gym, or working with a personal trainer in your home. Getting more active can keep your body more functional & provide you with improvement in your quality of life.
I hope this response has given you some food for thought & will act as a guide for you in
resolving the issues you've been having.
