Organic Keratin – Keratin Treatment Hair Straightening

Organic Keratin – Keratin Treatment Hair Straightening, Formaldehyde Free

By Ron Wehringer, Master Stylist and Colorist, the Solace Spa, Old Bridge, NJ

Keratin Treatment

The Keratin Treatment is a semi-permanent treatment that is protein based. It will rebuild the hair, seal the cuticle and protect it from the elements. It is not meant to be permanent because the bonds are not being broken or re-arranged by harsh chemicals; therefore if you want to maintain the Keratin Treatment look you will have to have it done about every four months. The more damaged the hair, the better the results with the Keratin process and repeated applications will make the hair silkier and smoother.  You may have the Keratin Treatment done if you have previously had your hair relaxed or straightened by a Japanese straightening system and your result will be soft, shiny and straight. This process can also be done if you have colored or highlighted hair. Keratin is the safest solution on the market to help you achieve healthy, soft, shiny, straight hair.

What is Keratin?

Keratin is an extremely strong protein, which is a major component in skin, hair, nails, and teeth. The amino acids, which combine to form keratin, have several unique properties, and depending on the levels of the various amino acids, keratin can be as soft, as skin or hair. Keratin has a strong protective quality that improves the hair both on the inside and the outside. It is virtually a liquid form of hair and brings back the strength and quality that your hair has been lacking. Keratin is a type of protein that is tough, elastic and insoluble.

Why the Solace Spa Does Not Use Any Product with Formaldehyde

Formaldehyde is a chemical compound, which is widely used, in industrial manufacturing and a number of other industries. This chemical is toxic, known to cause cancer and varieties of other health problems, and for this reason, most people make an effort to avoid formaldehyde. High levels of formaldehyde exposure can lead to cancer in the long term, and respiratory problems, skin conditions, and inflammation of the mucus membranes in the short term. Formaldehyde allergies can also cause serious health problems. This chemical is especially dangerous for children.

For this reason, the Solace Spa only uses formaldehyde free hair straightening products.  We use Keratin Treatments that are organic and safe.
