We were recently asked what makes our business different
from the other video editing and montage businesses out there. After giving it some thought, below are the
reasons Tears of Joy Video is so unique.
Reason Number One: Customer Service.
“Tears of Joy Video” treats each video as if it was our own. We get to know the story behind the person and then we set about creating their story with their pictures, video clips, titles and music. Each video is as unique as the person.
Reason Number Two: Personal Interest.
It starts with a phone call. We talk about what occasion they are celebrating, and about the person(s) that will be featured in the video. We then direct them to our website and suggest what packages might work for the occasion and the story they want to tell. We are budget conscious and make suggestions as how to stay within their budget and still tell their story. We help in the creative process by making suggestions on organizing the pictures to tell their story, what titles would work best and what music would help the video flow and create emotion. A planning guide and order form are also included on the website.
We then set up a time to meet and get their pictures or if out of state, we suggest they overnight the pictures or upload them digitally to our website or a photo sharing website.
As work begins on their project, we keep in touch by email or phone. Once the video is completed, a copy is uploaded and a private link is sent for viewing. We then make any changes or corrections and once the final approval is given, we create the DVD along with a custom cover and DVD design. The video is now ready for pick up or delivery.
Reason Number Three: Customized Video Creations.
What are some of the unique ways we can create your video?
We have had some of the following comments from our clients:
Yes, you can create your own videos, and some of our clients have done this in the past. However after seeing what Tears of Joy Video can create they realize that there is no comparison.
We will create quality video with a personal touch that will you will be happy to share with your family and friends. It will be a treasured keepsake you will watch over and over again for years to come.
Tears of Joy Video; dare to be different.

I sat down with my father the other day and listened to his stories about his life. I looked at his pictures and laughed at his stories. What is unusual about that is my father died back in August. But around 6 years before he died my sister and I created a biography video of him. I interviewed him and my sister and I collected his pictures and video and placed them around his stories. We even interviewed his friends and family and added their stories about him in.
At the time we were doing it for him. He requested it, almost demanded it. He knew my sister and I had the skill to do it and he wanted it done. It was a large project, but it was well worth it. When it was done we had all his friends together to watch the video and have a living tribute to him. It is a day I will never forget.
As his life spiraled down, and his health made him less and less of a person, this video helped him. We would put it on and he would remember the stories he was forgetting. It would bring back to him the wonderful life he had and the great friends he had made. His face would light up every time he watched it.
The last days of his life he was not himself. He barely responded to anyone. But we still played this video. This time it was not for him, but for the family and friends who stopped by to see him. We watched it in his room and reminisced about the stories about my dad and the wonderful person my dad was. Even though he was not able to respond, I would like to think he was able to hear us. If so his last days of his life he were filled with hearing stories about how much his friends and family loved him and how he had touched their lives.
Two days after my dad died I put this video in again and the full impact of what we had created hit me. Here I was missing my dad, and I put this video on and it was as if he was right back in the room with me. I knew now I could visit with my dad anytime I wanted.
For people who knew and loved my dad, this is a priceless gift. But it doesn't stop there. I have played the video for people who have never met my dad. They enjoyed watching it too. They said they knew so much about my family from watching it, and it drew them closer to me. That got me to thinking. We created something that long after all the family and friends are gone who knew my dad, this can still be enjoyed. People can put this video in and get to know my dad…a person they never met. He has left a part of his heritage behind for future generations.
I was talking with a friend the other day and she was mentioning about being back east and how there are gravestones from the 1700's in people's yards. Back in that time people buried their family on their properties and those properties still have them there. Her friends home had them on their property and she was reading the grave markers and wondering who these people were. At some time these people were loved, they laughed, they had dreams and hopes. But now they are just names. But imagine if they had the technology we have today. Imagine if they could share their story on video. Maybe we wouldn't be able to meet them personally, but we could know who they were. We could hear their stories from their own mouth.
Maybe you don't think your story is that important, but everyone has a story. Everyone has aspects of their life that is important to those around them. If you have good friends and family that love you, you have a story. Share the reasons you are loved. Share why you touched their lives. Share the fond memories you experienced in your life and why they are important to you. Share your story.
People work their whole life to make a name for themselves, and then they spend a fortune on their funeral so they can be remembered. But what people don't know is if you touched someone's life you did make a name for yourself. You made a heart impression on everyone you met. If you have good memories, those memories are worth sharing. If someone touched your life, share that story too. What makes you the person you are? What pictures are in your album that makes up your life? Your story is there. If you take the time to share it on video, you have a chance to share your life with generations long after your gone. They will be able to visit with you and know who you were and what was important in your life. You will be remembered. That is priceless.
After my dad's video my sister created our business. Now we create videos for others. We don't actually videotape these biographies. We take our clients video, pictures and home movies and create their stories with editing. You could go to a company to have it videotaped, but that would cost your thousands of dollars. That is out of the price range of many people's incomes today. We offer a solution for the everyday person. We offer biography services. We have a number of services that we can help you along the way in creating your biography. Take a look at our services and see if there is some way we can help you start creating your story.
As our tag line says: Everyone has a story…What's yours?

Recently we have done many memorial montages. When I mention this type of video, many people say that must be depressing. It is true, death is not fun to deal with. But unlike caretakers or grave diggers, we get to focus not on the death of that person, but on the life. We also know that though our videos may bring tears, they bring the type of tears the person needs at that time, tears of joy. Joy over the person's life that we celebrate in the video. Joy over seeing that person they have lost in pictures and video and remembering what that person meant to them.
Memorial videos are not just pictures posted on a board for the people to view. We create the story or the persons life, and tie in the memories they have made for all to remember through their pictures and video. We can include text or video clips from others saying what they appreciated most about the person to reaffirm to everyone watching what this person meant to others. Many people say our videos bring to mind the good things-more of a celebration of life, instead of the sorrow of death.
More than that, what we appreciate hearing is how these videos affect the family members and friends. We had one widow who was married 53 years, and lost her husband. As she went through the pictures for the video, she said how therapeutic it was for her to look at the pictures after the loss, and talk with her family about the pictures she would use. When she watched it she was so touched. She called us the next week and said that she has watched it every day, it was like having a visit with her husband.
Another client said that these videos helped her reflect on the good times with her husband, and not the bad times of his illness before his death. She said, this allows me to focus on the good memories.
Another daughter had done one for her father. She had wondered how her mother would respond to it, given she had Altimers and had problems even remembering her own children. She had used songs that were favorites of her dad. It was the music she responded to first. They played it after the funeral at her brothers house and since not everyone could fit in the room, they just had it playing over and over all evening. Her mother watched over and over again and first she started moving to the music. Then she started remembering some of the pictures. By the end of the evening her daughter said she recognized her and her siblings and was telling people "this is my daughter, this is my son". It was if the video sparked something in her memory.
Friends of family love getting their own copies, to have one last memory of their friend. Siblings and relatives can keep this as a family treasure, and it can be passed on to children and grandchildren as a piece of your family history.
We live in a video age. Most of the generations living don't remember when there wasn't a TV in the house. People respond to video. Give people a lasting memory of your loved one, in a format they will respond to. Show why its important to celebrate the life of your loved one. Make people walk away feeling good and give a time capsule video that will help that persons memory last forever.
This can also be done as a celebration of life before the person dies. We did this for our father, and it is a memory we will keep with us always. If your parents are getting up in years, their minds may be going. They may be forgetting their own stories, their own lives. These videos could serve as memory aides to help them remember the good times spent.
Don't leave this type of project to a friend or relative who is playing around as a hobbie editing video. Even funneral homes who provide this service, are not seasoned film editors. This is a special video you want to keep forever. Have a professionally created video that will be enjoyed by everyone. This also makes an excellent gift for loved ones who are experiencing this loss. Give us a call today and we can help you with this project, no matter where you live in the USA.

Late last year we were introduced to a company that we felt was a nice
tie in with our business, and so we incorporated it in with our site.
If you haven’t clicked on the Photo Books tab here on our site, click on it after reading this, and see what you can
create. Heritage Makers is a company that is focused on creating your
stories in books. Now you can take your pictures and write the story
that goes with those pictures. Not unlike our Montages, this is a great
way of share in written form the stories of your life with your family
and friends. Our montages make the story come alive by moving pictures,
titles, music, or voice-overs and video. But these books help your
story come alive in written form along with the pictures that mean so
much to you or your family. This is great for current special events
that happen in your life, or recording your family history. Now with
heritage books you can make your albums come alive by creating photo
books instead of albums, which not only show the picture, but the
stories behind the picture.
Heritage Makers also has a number of other products you can create, but one of the new ones they have added is very exciting. Now you can create your own cookbooks. Do you or a family member have recipes handed down from generations? Now make a recipe book of all those recipes and make them available for the family. Do you know someone getting married? Wouldn’t a recipe book of recipes from all their friends be a great gift at the shower?
If you would like to click on the link, you can join heritage makers as a customer, it is no charge to you. Just go to the photo books page and click on the “create your own book” link and get started. Once you sign up, there are video tutorial that show you how to create your own books. If you are in the San Diego (may expand this to Orange County, Riverside and Los Angeles Counties in the future) area and are interested in attending or hosting a workshop where we can come out and train you how to create books, contact us here.
This is also a great business opportunity. We added this service as something to enhance our video business. Perhaps your business is something that could work with these books. If you are a photographer, a teacher, a historian, have a business that works with kids, pets, food, marriage, sports, storytelling, to just name a few, I could see how Heritage Makers would just work in naturally with your business. Contact us if you would like to learn more. This would be an excellent way to make a second income with your existing one. Now go to the photo books page and take a look.

I heard from one of our customers this morning and she told me about a showing of one of our videos. Her story gave me chills. I had created a video for her father’s memorial. They decided to play it at her brother’s house afterwards. They played it in his family room and kept it playing over and over again for hours.
During all that time, her mother sat a watched the video over and over again. For a number of years her mother has had Alzheimer’s and hasn’t even recognized her own children. But her daughter told me as she watched this her face started to light up. She used music that was all her fathers’ favorites and her mother started moving to the music.
After a while she started recognizing her husband and her children on the screen. By the end of the evening she was telling people, this is my daughter. She was recognizing all her kids. Her daughter said it was amazing how she reacted to the video.
She called me to talk to me about creating her mothers story now. She wants to do this while her mother can still respond to it.
Even now this story is getting me emotional. To know that something I created allowed these kids to have connection with their mother again. That is priceless!

I just added a new video under my gallery. While driving around in my convertible I thought of this video this week. I have had my convertible for 2 years now. This is a picture of my car when my 3 nieces came to visit me when I first got it. They thought I was the cool aunt for driving a convertible. The youngest niece (3 at the time) complained to her mom when she got home. She wanted to know why their van couldn't be a convertible.
In the three years I have learned many things of what to do and not to do when driving a convertilbe and interesting things that happen to you while driving. I have included those in this video. Share this video with all your friends who have convertibles. They will be able to relate.
I love my convertilbe despite some of the drawbacks. There is nothing like a nice drive along the coast with my top down and some great music on the radio.
Watch my video and let me know what you think here. In case you can't find it or don't know which video I am referring to, here is the direct URL:

Enjoy!
