    Creating Memories of a lifetime

Recently we have done many memorial montages.  When I mention this type of video, many people say that must be depressing.  It is true, death is not fun to deal with.  But unlike caretakers or grave diggers, we get to focus not on the death of that person, but on the life.  We also know that though our videos may bring tears, they bring the type of tears the person needs at that time, tears of joy.  Joy over the person's life that we celebrate in the video.  Joy over seeing that person they have lost in pictures and video and remembering what that person meant to them.

Memorial videos are not just pictures posted on a board for the people to view.  We create the story or the persons life, and tie in the memories they have made for all to remember through their pictures and video.  We can include text or video clips from others saying what they appreciated most about the person to reaffirm to everyone watching what this person meant to others.  Many people say our videos bring to mind the good things-more of a celebration of life, instead of the sorrow of death.

More than that, what we appreciate hearing is how these videos affect the family members and friends.  We had one widow who was married 53 years, and lost her husband.  As she went through the pictures for the video, she said how therapeutic it was for her to look at the pictures after the loss, and talk with her family about the pictures she would use.  When she watched it she was so touched.  She called us the next week and said that she has watched it every day, it was like having a visit with her husband.

Another client said that these videos helped her reflect on the good times with her husband, and not the bad times of his illness before his death.  She said, this allows me to focus on the good memories.

Another daughter had done one for her father.  She had wondered how her mother would respond to it, given she had Altimers and had problems even remembering her own children.  She had used songs that were favorites of her dad.  It was the music she responded to first.  They played it after the funeral at her brothers house and since not everyone could fit in the room, they just had it playing over and over all evening.  Her mother watched over and over again and first she started moving to the music.  Then she started remembering some of the pictures.  By the end of the evening her daughter said she recognized her and her siblings and was telling people "this is my daughter, this is my son".  It was if the video sparked something in her memory.

Friends of family love getting their own copies, to have one last memory of their friend.  Siblings and relatives can keep this as a family treasure, and it can be passed on to children and grandchildren as a piece of your family history.

We live in a video age.  Most of the generations living don't remember when there wasn't a TV in the house.  People respond to video.  Give people a lasting memory of your loved one, in a format they will respond to.  Show why its important to celebrate the life of your loved one.  Make people walk away feeling good and give a time capsule video that will help that persons memory last forever.

This can also be done as a celebration of life before the person dies.  We did this for our father, and it is a memory we will keep with us always. If your parents are getting up in years, their minds may be going.  They may be forgetting their own stories, their own lives.  These videos could serve as memory aides to help them remember the good times spent.

Don't leave this type of project to a friend or relative who is playing around as a hobbie editing video.  Even funneral homes who provide this service, are not  seasoned film editors. This is a special video you want to keep forever.  Have a professionally created video that will be enjoyed by everyone. This also makes an excellent gift for loved ones who are experiencing this loss.  Give us a call today and we can help you with this project, no matter where you live in the USA.
