On Saturday April 18, 2009 Adam Wagner was promoted to Orange Shirt in the Zanshindo Hand-To-Hand Combat System by Black Shirt / 2nd Degree Black Belt Dustin Davis.  He is one of only three students at Ultimate Martial Arts of Crossville to reach this level of proficiency by demonstrating competency in Mixed Martial Arts and Self Defense skills including striking, takedowns/throws, escapes/sweeps/reversals, and submission holds such as joint locks and chokes.

***UPDATE*** Joe won his fight by choke out in dominating fashion, never had a solid shot landed on him&never had a submission attempted on him.  Way to go!!!

Our "field trip" to the Oak Ridge TTJC school  on Saturday July 19 was quite a success with everyone enjoyiong the great training atmosphere of our hosts & the Judo / Jiu-Jitsu seminar by Grand Master Eun.  All performed well in the grappling tournament, most notably Eric Brewer taking 3rd, Adam Wagner taking 2nd, & Jenna Davis taking 1st in their respective divisions.

On Sept 11, 1999 at the Gauntlet Trials I, Zanshindo- then known as McCullough Submission Fighting, sent students into the No Holds Barred (NHB) fighting world for the 1st time.  This MMA event was the subject of the documentary "Blood, Sweat, & Teeth".  Founder Will McCullough's early students Joe Bell, Dan Hinton, Jerry Gummo, Mike Newton, Seth Bowers, & Dustin Davis were all shown competing.  This documentary film is now available from Netflix as a DVD rental or "Watch Instantly" via streaming video on their site.  THIS LINK will take you there.  You can also view a short clip of Mike Newton's match via THIS LINK
