This Archery-Only Whitetail Hunt will take place on an expansive cattle ranch near Brandon, Manitoba that has been family-owned and operated for three generations.

The property is nestled along the picturesque Souris River in the agricultural region of south-central Manitoba.  This area consists of a vast array of diverse terrain features that provide ideal whitetail habitat for the resident deer herd.

On the south side of the farm, the river winds through the scenic landscape with steep ravines, ridges and towering bluffs that are covered in oak, maple, elm, ash and birch.  This area is interspersed with Saskatoon, chokecherry, cranberry and many other bushes and shrubs that are mixed into the undergrowth and meadows.

To the north, the valley gives way to rolling terrain with potholes, poplar grooves, diamond willows, silver willow and native grasses.  Crop fields are rotated with alfalfa and other hay crops, which draw trophy bucks from miles away.

The local deer herd is extremely healthy with a good buck-to-doe ratio.  McKenzie Outfitters concentrate on harvesting mature deer with 140-inch or better antlers with good mass, and strictly manage the land to let younger bucks reach their potential. These hunts typically produce 100 percent opportunity on bucks with 5x5 or bigger racks.

Dozens of tree stands are set-up before your arrival.  Stand locations can also be adjusted to meet your specific needs.  Ground blinds are placed in areas that will not support a tree stand or for those who would rather wait out a big buck from ground level.

McKenzie Outfitters whitetail operation is located one half hour from Brandon, Manitoba.  The winner of this hunt can be picked up at the Winnipeg, Manitoba Airport or he or she can rent a vehicle and drive to the farm.

All archery whitetail hunts are 7 days, Sunday-to-Sunday, unless pre-approved in advance.  Waterfowl and Upland bird hunting can be combined free of charge when the seasons allow.  The winner will have full-time assistance and guide service at his or her disposal.  Arrangements for taxidermy needs can be made or the winner can ship his or her trophy home.

The bow season starts in late August and extends into the first week of November. The early season allows for a chance at a velvet buck and the opportunity to hunt some truly impressive bachelor groups.  McKenzie Outfitter’s trail cameras get the most daylight photos of mature bucks during this time of year.

Mid-season finds the bucks still together but polished up and ready for the up-coming rut.  During this time of the season, stands are set-up along feeding trails, between the bedding and feeding areas.  As the rut intensifies, rubs and rub lines dot the edges of alfalfa fields that lead back into the coulées.  Stands are positioned to set-up on major rub lines and scrapes between pinch-points and funnels to intercept bucks cruising for hot does.

After the winner of this hunt has his or her buck on the ground, Monty is offering upland bird, waterfowl and coyote hunting and fishing in at no extra charge.

McKenzie Outfitters will provide one lucky United Outfitters Association – FORAHUNT.com Talk Forum Member the chance to harvest a trophy Manitoba whitetail buck with his or her archery equipment and memories that will last a lifetime!

Good Luck to all of our Talk Forum Members, and Thank You all for registering.  One of you will be joining Monty McKenzie and me on an exciting, Archery Whitetail Hunt in the Big Buck producing province of Manitoba, Canada in 2010!

Be sure to visit Monty McKenzie’s Web Site, McKenzie Outfitters, for even more information.
