I agree, we should start a class action suit. This place is a JOKE, the owners are only in this to hook you, then you pay, and pay, and pay. We went back after joining to show our kids, and it was absolutely horrible. Since then, we haven't been back, and were told up front, they (MLR) would sell our membership, but until then, we would have to pay the Maintenance fees. Then were told, if we just paid up to date, they would never bill us again. We just received notice they are sending us to collection over the fees. Statue of limitations on debts are 3 yrs in Mississippi. But if you pay any, your 3 years starts over! DO NOT PAY THEM A DIME. Posted on June 29, 2010 at 09:13 PM by Juanita Green

They say they're not a timeshare, but they lie.

Fellow people, companies like this are all over this country, so beware of the side talks with these people and report them to your nearest better business bureau. Posted on June 08, 2010 at 09:05 AM by Beware

We should start a class action suit

My fellow citizens, I have too been swindled by these people. I cancelled this within 2 days after my wife and I went and signed this deal and they inform me that they will send something in the mail about the confirmation of the cancellation. A year later they put this to a collection agency. I'm seeking an attorney to file a class action suit against these people, if anybody else want to join, contact me at theopolisjackson@yahoo.com. Martin Lake is a scam

My husband and I visted Matrin Lake Resort because they sented a card in the mail saying if we visted the resort we will receive a new computer. We got scam, my husband gave them $20.00 in cash and wrote 2 checks for $154.00. The sales person said we will receive a card in the mail saying when to pick up the computer. They cash one check then the letter came saying we had to pay $2,000 dollars to get the computer. I immediately stopped payment on the other check. We went back to the resort and demand to speak to the owner. We told the owner we could not afford a time share at the time. The owner reimbursed us the check for $154.00 plus 20.00 then he tore the contract up, and told us he was sorry for the misimformation. That was over 10 yrs ago, now this month which is April 2009 Bayside Recovery has put on our credit report we owe them $9,328 dollars. What a scam they need to be dealt with, people be aware of this SCAM! Posted on April 22, 2009 at 03:51 PM by Tony and Lisa in South Milwaukee,WI

Martin Lake Resort is Deceptive

I purchased a membership there for $1500 and paid two years of dues before cancelling my membership in writing and forfeiting my $1500. I only stayed there once. This was in 2002. Now I find they turned me over to Bayside Recovery (collection agency) saying I now owe them $1371 in back annual dues. It seems that I cannot cancel my membership but must pay them annual dues forever. I will not pay them even though they now have listed this as a collection on my spotless credit report. Buyer beware as Martin Lake will scam you any way possible. Posted on September 19, 2008 at 10:42 AM by Charles Weaver

Not a good choice

The people at Martin Lake are very very nice until you become a member, all they want is your money and don't care how disrepectful they are to you. They claim to be a "resort" but it is nothing more than a glorified trailer park with full time residents and run down trailers. Think twice before visiting this place.
