Akers of Strawberries

I noticed someone complained about the high grass. I was out there Friday, and found a TON of delicious dark red, ripe strawberries bursting with flavor and juices, even under the high grassy areas. You may have to walk a little farther down the marked aisles, but there are tons of fat juicy fruits to be found! My best friend and I took her four kids, her 6 daycare kids, her Mom, her two nephews, my daughter & my daughter's boyfriend to Akers of Strawberries. We spent half an hour picking three huge buckets of fruit, then enjoyed frozen yogurts and strawberry shortcakes. Absolutely delicious, and great fun!

Very disappointed!! The grass is waste high and the bushes are under the grass therefore the sun is not rippen the berries as well. In the past you could see the plastic that the are planted on but now you can't hardly see them.

Its a fun family day to pick fresh sweet strawberries then top it off with the homemade strawerry ice cream at Akers. we look forward to it every year.

I have 4 kids, the oldest being seven. They love kids and understand that little ones sometimes step on a plant or two! You can purchase fruit and veggies they have already picked, or pick your own.

I just got of the phone (25 Apr 2009) with Akers in Baker. The Saturday hours are 8 AM to 5 PM and Sunday from 1 - 5 PM. We went to BJ Farms in Elberta, AL; once.................. ......But we've been going back to "Akers of Strawberries" year after year!

I just spoke with a really nice lady there, they are opened at 8a.m. tomorrow April 18th 09 until 5 p.m. Its $1.25 per pound for the strawberry picking and they have a ice-cream store where they sell some food , hot dogs, nachos etc. I have heard that this place is a lot of fun and a great way for the family to spend time together.
