September News

Hello everyone!  September is only a few days away.  It took me a bit longer to get this newsletter out only because of so much going on for us in the home.  Andrew is now another year older and will be beginning school on September 8.  (Yikes!)

With Andrew starting school, I am asking everyone that has or will be interested in daytime sessions that are during the week; to please be patient as his schedule may fluctuate!  In addition, I plan to volunteer for his class, as this is important for me to be there for him.  Evening sessions will not be affected.

The wonderful season of ‘Fall’ is approaching, and with it brings the Colds and Flu.  Please remember that if you are not well or know you are contagious, to book your session for another time.  I am highly considerate for others as I was once a serious germ-freak due to having no immune system to speak of when taking all those nasty meds for my R.A., and I still prefer not to work on anyone when I am not well (contagious or with a migraine).  I have noticed a dramatic difference just working on my family, so trust me if I have to change a session with you if I am not well.  You will not get anything you deserve out of me.

September Deals:

Massage Specials: Aromatherapy & Therapeutic~ Always on Special for 25% Off.  (Price ranges from $45 - $52 for 60 Minutes!)

Weekly Special:  Check my website every Monday for the next Special of the Week!

Secret Specials: This is only available at HourTown, so I highly recommend booking your next session online to take advantage & receive the Specials!

I have also announced I have signed up with ‘Stagehands’, however I have not heard anything from them.  This is similar to me setting up a massage chair and hoping that I get a person to work on – the sessions are not guaranteed, yet it sounded like fun as these are held at the concert venues (DTE, the Palace, etc.).

Have a very Happy September!  Keep Healthy (as I am currently fighting a cold!)~

Do you need a Massage? (Adapted from 'Body Sense)

The short answer of this question is Yes!  Who in this stress-crazy world does not?  Especially as everyone deals with deadlines, long lines, tempers, work-related issues, school-related issues and of course, chronic muscular pain and/ or ailments that one may have to deal with in addition to it all.  No wonder stress is the leading cause of disease by a whopping 90%!

You can see your doctor (or your Naturopath) first for your diagnosis, and then consult your massage therapist.  However, be aware as some therapists, such as I may not recommend a session right off the bat for you.  I prefer to have your background medical information and like to know how you handle yourself on a daily basis before I decide what session and/ or treatment may be best suited to your needs.  The reason behind this:  Repetitive movements or something that may be contraindicated in your history tells me what is going on with your muscles and body.

Massage helps in so many cases:

TMD/ TMJ (Temperomandibular joint dysfunction):  This is when you notice a cracking/ popping when you chew, also if you are a clencher and you may not even be aware of it.  Headaches have been known to stem from it depending on the severity of the issue.  Many people are very surprised to know that Massage (and yes, even Reflexology) can assist with this.  You can also ask your therapist to show you some techniques to help in between sessions.

Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS): An estimated 5 million Americans suffer from colonic and abdominal issues.  Stress management, along with massage are key to helping.  Massage releases the endorphins to help with the pain so things can calm down.  Diet, of course helps tremendously as IBS suffers have a rather sensitive stomach.

Neck Pain: Also known as ‘Torticollis’ can come on suddenly as the muscles in one side of your neck become so short that your head is drawn down to one side. Massage is wonderful for lengthening shor
