In the 60's my late husband Anthony, Sr. and myself worked for a Lawn Maintanence company. He worked in the Field and I in the office. The company went into another kind of business and we bought the landscaping accounts. We started with a couple of lawn mowers and a beat up used Pick Up truck. Eventually added a used 1 ton dump. Anthony was a very hard worker and I, of course was in the office running the business end of it. We basicly cut lawns in the city area back then and did Pruning, Pesticide, RR tie walls, etc. etc. etc. It was very a difficult time and a lot of hard work. especially since we had 2 small children and it was seasonal work. Most people think when you have you're own business you're loaded, you're rich. On the contrary! It's hard. We took it one step at a time, much like a baby walks, just one step at a time. One day at a time. Never look at the whole picture of anything- It's too overwhelming. Anthony has sinced passed on in 1993 - it's 18 years on March 17, 2011 that he moved to Heaven. I Miss him so much!!! Well, as you know the business is still around and we're specializing in Hardscaping- or Landscape Construction -building walls, paver driveways, concrete, etc. We're Celebrating 32 years in Business this year. I've very proud of that. I'm hooked on being self-employed- I love business and enjoy the challenges, sometimes. I feel I'm a much stronger person for what I learned and endured being in business. It's rough but it's nice too, especially getting to know so many special people and helping to make them happier when we improve their curb appeal for them. The smile on their faces is worth the price of admission. It's a great feeling seeing a customer happy with the job.
What makes us different? Not saying that the other businesses are not doing this but primarily "We take Pride in our Workmanship, We Run on Honesty and Integrity". We do the job likes it's being done at our home. No Corners are ever cut to lower the bid and not do the job right. I'll get out of business before I lower my high standards of workmanship. We do the job Right the First Time. No gimmicks, no games, no lies, just good old plain Honesty is the core of Borrasso Landscaping and will Always be as long as I'm running it.
We've lived in Plum since 1970 and I love the country atmosphere, especially in the summer. Part of my heart is still in the city where I grew up but my life is here in Plum. It's a great boro and the schools are superior. I have 3 absolutely beautiful GrandAngels whom I adore. I love being a grandmother. Of course, they don't call me grandma, they call me MiMi, they picked that name...don't know why, but I like It. I've met so many nice people being in business. It's nice dealing with the public. I believe in treating people the way I want to be treated. With Respect!..That's a very lonely word, these days! RESPECT!
