Post Valentine's Day Tribute & Memory Lane

Some “Post Valentine’s Day” Thoughts From Bay Area Graphics & Marketing
Recently, I was talking with one of my Merchant Circle contacts who is a florist, and it brought back some funny childhood memories--- If you’re also a florist and you actually have some to read this--then you have successfully recovered from your holiday rush—hopefully. The rest of you, sit back with your cup of coffee, read this or simply take your own trip down memory lane.

Your Vision - Our Skill & Implementation

When I was a child, my best friend's parents owned a florist shop in the heart of "small town, upstate N.Y. Each week I looked forward to a possible invite to go to their floral shop with her to create our "budding" masterpieces with the not so "fresh" leftover flowers and trinkets from early in the week. I remember Valentine's Day "week" at the floral shop as a colorful, sweat smelling war zone-- A chaotic- flower- fest at best, that began 4 or 5 days prior to "the big day" and ended only when the last wilted red rose was swept away – Mind you—those leftover flowers were rarely tossed out but used wisely, by two young girls who yearned to be famous floral designers.

Now, it's true that one mans junk is another (girls) treasure and we really never noticed how "un-fresh" our flowers were! We would utilize each pedal of the left-over roses, carnations, babies’ breath, tulips and other flowers to create our very own (sometimes very pungent) post Valentine’s Day floral arrangements. We were in the 4th and 5th grade so yes, we had just started to recognize boys and we were fully engaged in our secret "crushes." Creating arrangements fit for our kings was our goal and priority. The end result was magic all the way down to the hand written note card from "A Secret Admirer” which was thoughtfully attached to our finished product. Adorned with scraps of ribbon and bows or baloons,  imagination took control and thus, the fresh cut flowers, arranged with love with our tiny hands were secretly delivered to our “school-girl crushes" --love note and all. Each year, we would take advantage of the leftovers and after time, we did gain some knowledge about flowers, how to arrange properly as well as the basics of running a flower shop. As a girl, I truly thought I would grow up to be a florist (or a teacher) but, life, my love of art and design, then technology lead me down the road to owning my current company--Bay Area Graphics & Marketing.

Those who have already retained our services know that we design anything from logos to websites--We're creative writers as well, having had our articles published in various local and on-line publications and websites. Creating and designing is what we love to do--We pass our gift on to others who can benefit from it and we do so affordably and promptly. Designing websites or custom logos is as exciting as floral designing was way back when and our love for it increases with each design and with the success of our clients. I think most artists believe that there are two kinds of people, those who are creative, and those who are not. Designers are designers, whether floral, website, graphics or interior--- It all comes down to a vision, which is often not your own-- and then implementing a skill to back it up.

I haven’t thought about those days in the floral shop for many years, but now looking back I realize how just maybe it played a part in developing my gift and in retrospect I know for sure that it was a part of the plan. Most likely if you reflect, you too can recall something that lead you down a path to your current career.

I could have written in detail about SEO, website technology or design but, I felt compelled to start my week off on a more personal note-- If you’re interested in those things however, simply visit my company website at www.websitestampabay.com

Have a successful week ahead!
