HORRIBLE CRABS!

1

If there was a place to put O stars, I would be 0. My cousin had bought a barrel of crabs from CrossRoads in July and they were EXTREMELY good. I drove a total of 1 hour and 15 min. this past Thursday, (Sept 1st) to get the worst crabs I ever had in my life. Like anoter reviewer pointed out, they tasted like they were even more than a day old. I asked for Large, but what I received was more like Mediums (one crab was large on the outside and completely empty and what little crab meat was on the insided was mushy). It was enough to make you vomit, and needless to say it took my appetite. My recommendations is to NEVER, EVER get crabs from this joint. Trust me, I wont. For $ 60 a dozen for large it was shameful to receive such HORRIBLE food!!! Truly a RIP OFF. Waste of my time, gas, and money!

Great Food! Comfortable Atmosphere

4

After reading the reviews on here, I was more than apprehensive about dining at this establishment. But, it was a get-together for us girls and 2 of them had been there a few years prior. We were all pleasantly suprised! The food was wonderful. The "all you can eat" crabs were "JUMBOS", the soup they served with the all-you-can eat" was good. The crab cakes were made of jumbo lump meat crab and "huge". Prices for their crab cake platter (1) crab cake, and choice of two sides was $14.95. Imported Beer and Wine was $4.50, domestic $2.75. I'm only giving 4 stars because the prices were high on steamed crabs and accompanied with a cup of soup, only. But otherwise, it was a great experience. This is a quaint, "hole in the wall" place. Very comfortable atmosphere, no pretenses. Oh, our server did not smile at us once, but he did his job.

Ticked

I am not sure who these people think they are fooling. Two times in a row now, I have brought home day old crabs that were tepid after a 2 mile drive! There is no mistaking that smell! I had ordered jumbo's and these were clearly #1's. Such a shame in that I had bought crabs from them 8 times prior this summer before these past two incidents... NEVER again!

Great crabs out in the country

5

The best place to get steamed crabs I've found in the northern suburbs of DC. Gets crowded so be prepared to wait on the weekends. No doubt about it, crabs can get expensive, but I've never had bad ones here. Event the all-you-can-eat specials were heavy, and its not a bad deal at all.

Under age drinking

1

If you are wondering where your under age kids are drinking, wonder no more. My son and his friends (all 19 years old) went to Crossroads to eat crabs and they were served beer. No one carded them. I thought you were suppose to card anyone that looks younger than 35. I even get carded for beer. Just beware if your kids are going to go out to eat crabs and they are going to Crossroads, they may come home drunk. I am giving this establishment a 1 star because there is nothing less than that. But if I could I would give them a -100

Way too expensive

Prepare to be much poorer after you leave this restaurant. Limited selection of items, crowded setting, way over priced. Even a crab cake sandwich will set you back $15.00. Staff is crabby.

Bad Business

1

This place is getting a star because there is not a negative star rating to give. We ordered Jumbo crabs and were given large at best; they were possibly the all you can eat size. They tried to charge us $90 for them. When we asked to speak with the manager, we were told that there was not one on duty that night. Yet the young man in the kitchen came out to the table and told us that the owner was sitting at the bar. When we asked our waitress if we could speak with him; we were told that he was too busy to come talk to us beacause he was eating his dinner. We will never go to this resturant again and we will never recommend it. We used to go there frequently as it is so close to our house but it is worth the trip to go elsewhere for crabs. We found a new spot where the staff is great and the food is top shelf unlike Crossroads. I guess they did get too arrogant after the write up on them in the post. Very sad!!!
