My studio is in the workshop of our home in a quiet country setting a bit off the beaten track. We are just three miles up a road off the main road (Route 3) which passes through all the towns between the state capitol, Augusta, and the beautiful city of Belfast, which is the county seat located right on the ocean. Palermo is halfway between Augusta and Belfast and there are a few stops as you pass through that can make your trip more enjoyable. First, just before Palermo is the newly expanded Tobey's Store where you can get gas, groceries, foods to go and a lot more. Just beyond the edge of Palermo (a mere 8 miles) is the Liberty Trading Post, where you can also get gas and other convenience store items. During warmer months the main attraction in the Trading Post area is John's Ice Cream. John's is worth the trip if you love good ice cream. Just up the road from the Trading Post you will go past Lake Saint George State Park. So if you have time to slow down on your way to the coast, you are very likely to find more than you expected in this area.
