She’s selected the medium of jewelry design, in part, because the materials used are hard and unyielding. They embody time, past, present and future and are difficult and demanding to work with. But, for Alfillé, her art is not centered on material, but an idea. She believes it begins with a particular way of seeing the world, of focusing on something that others pass by. Using the sparkle of gems and the brilliance of precious metals as her canvas, Alfillé combines her experience as a field archeologist and gem expert with her passion for linguistics and medieval poetry to reconnect true artistry with her craft, giving jewelry back its voice and awakening its soul.
