Forest Avenue Baptist Church

I did stay in the forest avenue family shelter and wasnt really thrilled with the shelter experiance but the church taught doctrinal truthpastor ken was willing to awnser any ones questions during sunday school and he is committed to his love of god and doing gods work and this shows in his approch to working with people in an underprivleged area they have made effort to outreach minestry in the neighborhood with love and compassion for thier needs pastor ken is an excellent teacher whos wisdom and intutiveness brought me back to the 1st seeds of faith that where planted in my childhood he conseled me through spirtual concerns related to my past and I beileve he is capable of doing this for any one he consels and if I had transporation to that area I would regularly attend sunday services here confident that the truth about God would be refreshed in me and the spirtual food would be enough to satisfy the church itself works well with Gods provision and that says alot

The clergy was an awsome experience, the prayer was fabulous. there were a few disgruntled volunteers. But all in all no one went hungry, and if they did it was because they didnt show up for dinner. I wasnt allowed to go to my own church, but thats ok, because it was a safe place, and their church wasnt so bad. In fact it had pretty good services. The homeless were made to sit in the front of the church, and I didnt particulary care for that, only because it made us homeless people stick out to the public even more. Some people forget that homeless people have values and expectations too! and hope for respect just as much as the guy that sits behind a desk, or walks around with a big jangle of keys. Some of the staff yelled at the homeless, and I felt like their could have been more diplomatic aproches to some of the clients. But remember they said its an emergency shelter, not the Luxor in Vegas. But to the homeless being indoors with food to eat is like being at the homeless Luxor.

Forest Avenue church is the most dynamic church I have ever been to. They have a multicultural congragation and are committed to the great commission. They have contemporary worship and work hard at purity and unity in Christ. It is where the word of God goes forth and the love of God abounds.
