make that 30 cents

your current price is 3.70, just found oil for 3.39 plus if you buy 200 gallons it goes down to 3.37. that's 65 dollars on 200 gallons.

apples and oranges

We are absolutely not 20 cents more than the rest of our genuine full service competitors. There are some discount guys running around in our market area that might be that much cheaper than us on occasion. It depends what you want from your fuel company. Our customers (among other things)enjoy the security of our full staff of trained licensed technicians that are on call only for our fuel customers 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. To lots of folks, that security is worth a bit more a gallon...

Non Competitive Prices.

1

Just plain don't compete as far as prices go. It's not like they are 5 cents more per gallon, and you are ables to say, "ok 5 cents to go with the local guy". They are always 20 cents more. Just too expensive...

We have always found P Gagnon and son to be higher on oil.

Tom, drop by and look at one of my bills.

Tom says that he was "conned" into buying a fixed price plan last summer and that he "knows" that we were paying a lower price and still charging him the amount he signed a contract to purchase last summer. Come on in. I'd be happy to show you the bill I'll be receiving within day or two for the last of the contract oil we purchased on our customers behalf last summer. I'd also be happy to further expain a bit about how these programs really work. You don't really know... Nobody was "conned" and we made absolutely no extra money at our customers expense. Last summer was a bad situation for everybody. I'd be willing to bet that if we hadn't had the "fixed price" oil for Tom last summer he's have gone elsewhere to get it. Maybe that would have been just as well.

Dissapointed

We have been prepaying our oil with you for the past 5 years. Last year we prepaid over $4 something a gallon ($1600) and then the price went down to $2 something. We were not offered a discount on our prepay, and were charged that large price every time it was delivered instead of the price of the day. We agree with you John and the words you put in your complaint! We feel the same way!! We are not going to prepay any more, and we will do not more Automatic delivery. When we need some oil we will be shopping for the better price or a better company to prepay with. Mark, I am sure you will be losing a lot of business due to this happening to your "faithful" customers. You gave us an excuse for not making it right to us, (your customers who recieved your lovely newsletter) but that excuse does not hold water!! We know that you paid the lower price and continued to charge us the higher one that we were "conned" into paying!!

Once again, please call me.

I hope anyone who reads the "reviews" on this sight at least considers the extremely real possibility that the folks who submit them aren't always explaining the whole story. I'd be embarassed if the story Mary tells about our reporting her to a credit bureau is entirely true. We will work with anyone to help them through tough times. But if someone stops working with us occasionally we resort to collections agencies. I think the other person was Mark who claimed we "dropped the ball" because we didn't let him out of the contract he signed. He failed to mention that he received a letter suggesting he choose the option we offered that allowed him to "cap" the price he pays for fuel this winter. If he had he'd be paying $2.50 less per gallon for oil right now. If we had let everyone who wanted contracts last summer out of them this winter it would have cost us in the mid six figures. We did offer a compromise that he didn't take. Hoping to hear from someone........

Long standing customer treated very poorly

1

I have been a long standing customer of P Gagnon. I had an arrangement worked out where I would order a small amount of oil, pay for it when I could, and then get more. This was due to husband's disability. I paid the high interest and got oil when I could. Without warning, they sent my account to collections--not even one warning letter or call. I had always paid, albeit late. prior to that I had excellent credit. I am now getting daily collection calls. P. Gagnon knew that I had a financial setback, and had agreed to the above arrangement. I was absolutely shocked that they had promised to wait for a payment and when I paid I would get more oil. Instead, I was written off and now have a collection on my credit bureau. I do owe this money and intend to pay it, but I hope they remember that but for the grace of God they could be in the same tough circumstance.

Little Sympathy For A Long-Standing, Devoted Customer

1

P. Gagnon and Son had always been there for me and my family. This was especially so when Richard Gagnon (Dick) was the owner. There definitely has been a significant change. The company has lost its small town feel and appeal. This year, with all the pre-pay contract controversy, P. Gagnon has dropped the ball. They simply have not been there for their customers who were scared to death of oil prices in July 2008. They certainly could stand to dip into their significant profits to provide assistance to dedicated customers who are getting hurt financially by pre-pay contracts. Instead, the company is offering rediculous, and expensive buy-outs. There is nothing wrong with a company making a profit, no one would begrudge that. However, P. Gagnon and Son has lost the "friends and neighbors" approach of Dick Gagnon, many years ago.
