I am pleased with the selection Hardester's offers. Having Ace Hardware in combo with the grocery store is a fabulous perk. The prices ARE a bit higher, but it is to be expected in a small town and by a private store. The employees are extremely helpful and kind. I appreciate having them in town as an option for our daily needs! By Anonymous on July 16, 2011 at 02:14 PM

As Hardester customers for over the past 30 years we noticed that some of
your employees are more customer service oriented than others. Tonight when we
purchased groceries Evelyene your floor manager was our cashier. She was extremely rude
to my mother and I at the check out stand when my mom told her that she was paying by
check. My mom just ordered checks and was paying with a temporary check. She had her
drivers license, her bank statement, her check with the account number, and not to
mention my mother and I as well as the rest of family is in there almost daily, and have
never written a bad check there in thirty years. She simply set our groceries aside and said
that there was nothing she could do. Then when I went to talk to her she cut me off and
would not let me speak or finish what I was saying to her. I am very disappointed. By Christine on December 12, 2010 at 07:39 PM
Clean, friendly, great selection and good prices. I will not travel to Santa Rosa and spend the money on gas to save a couple of dollars. I like to shop local and support our community. By Anonymous on May 28, 2010 at 07:23 PM
I like Hardester's because they carry local wine and produce (Lake County's true industries). Safeway and Wal-Mart do not and thus do a great disservice to the local economy. They send our $$ to profit companies not even in our region and add an unnecessary carbon footprint in our environment. Thank you Hardester’s for your fair employment practices, logical business model, paying living wages to your staff, supporting other business in your community and giving back in the form of charity on a constant basis. The previous reviewer must have a personal issue with the managers and personnel at Hardesters. I find the store to be sparkling clean with a wide variety of products and especially wonderful produce and deli departments. The employees are helpful and friendly and make shopping a delight. It is easy to shop and find everything I need. The Cobb Mountain and Hidden Valley stores are also well managed. By Anonymous on June 06, 2009 at 05:25 PM
I have been a Lake County local all my life and there was a time that i enjoyed Hardester's Markets. But, during the past three or four years the stores seem to be following a slippery slope when it comes to store design, cleanliness and expecially pricing. I understand that as an independent merchant that the prices will be a little higher than a national chain, but really, nearly $5 for a loaf of bread is outrageous. Throughout the stores you also find a mismatch of product variates that do not dictate the market needs at all. Not many Lake County people are shifitng to Organic as they seem to think. For one the price is TOO HIGH and the quality tends to be poor. Also, the layout of the stores, specifically Middletown is horrible. Really the concept of having a Hardware store within what is "supposed" to be a high end market is an ould idea. Hardester's is on a slippery slope to failure. As soon as the expanded Wal-Mart opens and the new Safeway they are in deep trouble. By Anonymous on May 19, 2009 at 10:23 AM
