Independence Title

Used this title company on a normal closing. Company took it upon themselves to use tax payment from the seller to pay my closing costs, so they say. 8 mouths later I had back taxes, penalties, court fees, etc, totalling over $4300 . Had to take out a loan for 3 years, which costs another $800 in interest. My realtor and mortgage originator trusted them, so signing was supposed to be routine. Be sure to take your own lawyer with you, maybe two: they are really tricky and unhonest. It could be that the company had just one bad apple in the barrel. But when the owner backs this sort of deception, you would be better over using another title company. There are a whole lot of them out there, so don't get stuck. Stay away from the one in Georgetown especiallly!!
