We offer unusual and rare perennials, annuals, and dwarf conifers. We also have an outdoor model train layout! Customers can view this at any time, but the trains are only running at special events. Some of our specialties include hellebores, hostas, native wildlflowers, and hemerocallis. Some of the tender perennials include sun coleus, salvia, begonia, and bananas. We have over 200 cultivars of hostas, and are always adding new lines of hellebores!

Great source for unusual plants!
If you are looking for a source for rare and unusual perennials, annuals, and dwarf conifers, look no further! You will find many incredibly unique plants. Marian has a wealth of knowledge of plants that she is willing to share. The nursery is small, but there is something there for the collector and the beginner gardener. In particular, Martin's Greenhouse has an exceptional offering of hostas and hellebores. It's also very easy to find, on RT 322 near Shady Maple Smorgasbord!

is there an ornamental grass that is silver colored? I was hoping to find some that isn't real tall to plant on a very steep slope -3 ft maybe?

Most silver ornamental grasses that I'm aware of can get rather large. Miscanthus 'Dixieland' might work, or 'Little Kitten'. 'Little Kitten' is not truly silver in color, but does have nice flowers.

when are the special events that the trains will run?

You just missed a recent event, ART & MOONLIGHT IN THE GARDEN. The trains will be running tomorrow, as part of a train garden tour. Tickets are required. It is near the end of the season, and there are no more special events scheduled. You could, however, ask to see them running sometime and set up an appointment.
