Best Breakfast in the Universe

5

Im a New Hampshire native, now a resident of Salt Lake City, who's lived in San Francisco for the summer...and I'll state confidently that the Moonbeam Cafe is the best breakfast I've ever had. When I lived and worked in the North Country I ate here regularly but perhaps didn't appreciate the general superiority of their cuisine, nor the specific quirks and the finer points of their offereings...TEN VARIETIES of fresh bread, a full menu of poached egg dishes, an omlette featuring sausage, apples, cheddar, and cranberries, strong coffee, a beautifully maintained victorian setting... Easily the best breakfast/lunch in the North Country, with a menu and standard of quality and service that would make it stand out in any big city. Thanks! Get the German Omlet...

Great place to eat!

My wife and I have a second home in Milan, NH and a good friend (owns the Mt. Madison Motel) that lives in Gorham. He brought us to the Moonbeam about a year ago. The first time breakfast was simple with eggs over easy, sausage, bacon, SMASHIES! (Never heard of 'em 'till this day), and their own Sun dried tomato/basil bread. (I'm pretty sure that's what it was called). The eggs were good, as was the sausage and bacon.....BUT, the Smashies and the bread were amazing!! The bread was so good my wife bought a loaf, and we have everytime we've been there since. The Smashies are some form of smashed up potatoes with spices and some other ingriedients & then cooked. They are the tastiest form of taters I've ever eaten. Since then, we've sampled more of their menu and have never once had anything that was short of perfect! The owner/hostess/waitress is one of the most personable people you will ever meet. Thanks for all the great meals! Wayne Parkhurst Service Manager, Reynolds Sales

Restaurant Review

What a great place the atmosphere took you back to the late 1800's original woodwork of an old Barbershop and bathhouse. The owners (Kerrianne) was friendly and inviting. The menu had a wonderful assortment of breakfast items with at least 7 ways to have a poached egg. Vegetarians would be in heaven along with us meat eaters. All very healthy and the Home Made breads were to die for. You had a variety of at least (no lie) 10 to choose from. My husband got the Artichoke and chees omlet with pumpkin, walnut, raisin toast. Absolutely wonderful. I decided on lunch and had the Chicken Salad on a homemade russian/rye bread with an asian salad (side) which was excellent and very tasty. We decided to go the next day for breakfast. My husband ended up with the same dish as it was that good. This time I got the Ruben on the same bread along with the Manhattan Clam Chowder, being a NE gal I was hesitate. It was fabulous loaded with clams and very tasty. This is a must try - Enjoy!

I agree with what everyone has said here. Breakfast is fantastic, and their homemade breads are awesome. (They bake a dark pump with a hint of coffee bean that is tremendous). I'm going again tomorrow. I hope this restaurant thrives!

Best hollandaise sauce ever!

When I have summer visitors in NH, one of the first things they ask is "When can we go to the Moonbeam?" Everyone agrees they've never had a such wonderful breakfast/brunch in their lives. The only problem with the Moonbeam is deciding what to order, but you really should try their secret recipe black bean and pumpkin soup at least once. And then just try to resist having it the next time you're there!

We happened upon this cafe for breakfast the morning of October 17, 2007. We were absolutely delighted with the service and especially the food. All four of us agreed that it was the best breakfast we have ever eaten. If you are in Gorham, NH you must stop by the Moonbeam Cafe for breakfast. The Eggs Benedict were the best ever and the Blueberry pancakes were to die for. The Maple Encrusted French Toast was spectacular! We may go back to New England just so we can go to the Moonbeam Cafe for breakfast.

World Class

We wish there were more than 5 stars to give here! From the warm and comfortable atmosphere, to the delightful service and the absolutely delicious, freshly prepared, home baked and personally attended to presentation of all items on the menu, Moonbeam is our favorite all-time restaurant. We drive from Bethel every weekend and have friends and family who actually drive from Boston just to meet at the cafe for breakfast or lunch. Oh yeahhhh, it's the best we've found in years from the finest 5 star hotel restaurants to the intimate neighborhood cafes and we've been to them all!
