For a little over ten years, my husband Hamid and I have welcomed our guests to our restaurant across from Moore Square in a restored 1886 home. We offer full service for dinner Tuesday through Saturday, amid the decor of white tablecloth and toile curtains with candlelight, fresh flowers and a fireplace in every room - perfect for that romantic date or special occasion. Each room consists of three to five tables for an intimate dinner or private party groups up to thirty guests, as well as outside dining on a front porch draped in jasmine lit with sparkly white lights. We offer primarily American fare- mashed potatoes, fresh corn, green beans and squash with Pan Fried Catfish, Chicken Livers, Fresh Fish and our house specialty Rack of Lamb. Our Market Salad is just that... Fresh local ingredients available at the Moore Square Farmers Market each week. Homemade desserts are a favorite among our "regulars", so it is always a good idea to save a little room for Banana Napoleon, Coconut Cake, Blueberry Crisp or Bread Pudding. Our location in the Moore Square Art District is an additional draw. Mo's Diner is on the Showtime Trolley Route, so our guests can dine with us, and take a free trolley ride to the Progress Energy Center for an evening performance. Raleigh has a great Art Scene including the Carolina Ballet, NC Symphony, Broadway Series South, NC Theater and many other events in the Center that houses Memorial Auditorium, Meymandi Hall and the Fletcher Theater. Across the street in Moore Square is the home of Raleigh's "Free Saturdays in the Park" including Live Concerts and Big Screen Movies. Imax is also across the street in the Marbles Kids Museum Imax shows documentaries as well as first run movies in 3D on a screen five stories high. Moore Square is home of First Friday Gallery Walk as well as many other events throughout the year including Artsplosure, Capital Crush Wine Festival, Twilight Criterium Bike Race, Sparkcon and much more. So, as you can see, there is so much to do in downtown, with plenty of free parking on the street. For anytime you up for a night out, come downtown and eat with us at Mo's Diner and take in a show, gallery, festival, movie and "moore". We look forward to seeing you downtown this weekend or drop in during the week on a Tuesday, Wednesday or Thursday for quiet dinner.
