Merchant Ratings Still Pleased After 10 Years

Victoriana Lady- Public Speaker & Victorian Reenactor

Having a century home, circa 1870, with 22 windows posed
a real challenge.
Nothing is square in these old houses!
North East Window met the challenge beautifully!

I still enjoy my windows and have not had any problems with them.
The ease of cleaning is worth having their windows installed!

For great quality & value you won't be disappointment.

Sincere regards,

Victorian Era Speaker/Reenactor

Merchant Ratings Replacement windows

As usaul Northeast Window has dona a great job at a fair price. Workmenship is always excellent, and after they finish, you don't even know they were there (other than the nice new windows where the old ugly ones were)

Thanks again Joe

Ghigiarellis Restaurant

I grew up eating in the great pizza places in Old Forge that are still owned and run by the same families 40-60 years later. My all time favorite is Ghigiarelli's.

The place has not changed much in the 40 plus years that I am going there. I always say that when you walk in the front door its 2008, by the time you reach the dining room its 1948. And that's a good thing.

The menu is no-frills. Pizza, pasta, tripe and sofritto. Whenever I come here I always start with a dish of Sofritto. Granted this may not be for everyone but I love it. Very hard to find outside of Old Forge. Veal hearts boiled then cubed. Saute in olive oil with a splash of red wine vinegar. Salt, pepper and rosemary.

Then comes the pizza. Fresh dough, light and crispy. The sauce is sweet and spicy at the same time. The cheese mixture blends in perfectly. There is a lot of good pizza in Old Forge, but this is the best!!!

Salernos Cafe

Salerno's has a great menu compared to most Old Forge places: steaks, seafood, sandwiches, and nightly specials. I always go for authentic Old Forge Cuisine: tripe, sofritto, and pasta.

Sofritto is: veal hearts which are boiled, cubed, sauteed in olive oil with a splash of red wine vinegar, and seasoned with salt, pepper, and rosemary. Salerno's cubes their sofritto very small and seasons it perfectly. This is excellent and true Old Forge Cuisine. I finished with an order of fusilli with meatballs: classic homemade Italian pasta, meatballs, and sauce.

Charlies Pool Room

After reading about Charlies Pool Room, I just had to get there. I was not disappointed. I was greeted at the door by Joe Fencz who gave me a brief rundown of their hot dog menu and introduced me to his brother John. John headed to the kitchen to prepare my three "Mealies" and Joe and I sat down and got acquainted. I told him that I got his name from Roadfood.com and he started to rattle off the names and hometowns of all the fine people who have made the trip to Charlie's Pool Room. Joe has an unbelievable memory. He told me he stopped gambling when he was 28 years old, but I think he could count cards in Vegas.

I don't know if it was just the food or a combination of the food, the atmosphere and the company but I have never had a hot dog better than my "mealies" at Charlie's Pool Room. I can't wait to get back and enjoy the food and conversation.

(Mealies are Hungarian sauce , onions and hot peppers)
