Wings are the best in the Berkshires and you can't go wrong with 300+ bottled beers plus some good brews on tap. Service was a little slow but friendly. By Dave on February 12, 2009 at 12:49 PM
This place is wonderful for the beer connosseur and wing enthusiast... The two put together under one roof makes a great combo. My boyfriend and I fell in love with the unbelievable bottled and on-tap selection of beers, and although we live about 2 hours away, joined the beer club! And travelers, have no fear.... inexpensive lodging lies across the street, so there's no reason why you can't enjoy an intoxicating night with the risk of drinking and driving. Hands down, a two thumbs!!! By Kim Kim on October 29, 2008 at 07:46 PM
If your looking for fast service don't bother stoping. If you are in the market for the worlds best wings and some good beer you found it. I started going to the Old Forge in 95 when I was in college. Quickly became addicted to there wings. I'm not sure what they do to these things but I think they might be using some Human Growth Hormon on their chickens. Best recipe bar none in the country. Great atmospher, the only down side is that you will probably wait a while. But the wings are worth it. I graduated in 98 and still make a three hour pilgrimage back to the forge once a year just to get those wings. I only whish I could get them overnighted to me. Bottom line is it's worth the stop. The servers here are more interested in pleasing their girlfriends than tending to the customers. My friend (an Iraqi war vet) and I had a conversation which upset the bartender's girlfriend and suddenly, we were cut off. We were not drunk. We were not obnoxious. We simply had a private conversation which upset their delicate sensibilities. The thought police at this establishment must make a living serving rainbows and sunshine, because they sure don't rely on tips, you know, like most bars. Don't spend your money here. The overrated food isn't worth it. By Ryan on December 01, 2007 at 02:13 AM
Weary travellers beware. This place is for the locals. After we pulled off the interstate to conclude a long day of driving, we asked our hotel concierge where to eat. We were staying locally for a few days so we wanted a good, dependable place. She readily recommended the Old Forge.
Upon entry we gave our name to the wait staff, this only after watching a few other people do the same. No reception upon entry: problem number 1. We were advised the wait would be 30 minutes, no problem thought us, seeing as the place came highly recommended. After 45 minutes, we noticed that a number of people who arrived after us had been seated. Strange, so we inquired how much longer the wait would be and if there was some other way to get seated faster. No other way, but our table was coming right up. After another 20 minutes and being so obviously ignored that other customers began to notice, we walked out. By Gary on October 17, 2007 at 12:37 PM
The Old Forge is a great place for all types! The food is consistanly great everytime I eat there, and even if I just have drinks they seem to ALWAYS be great too! The atmosphere is pub style with smiles on all staff and customers. I take anyone there who thinks they have had the best wings...then they realize the Old Forge is where it's at!
