A young man was charged with reckless driving. Records show that trooper Baumes pulled over at Cypress Parkway and Marigold Avenue in Poinciana to investigate a crash shortly before 7 p.m. Baumes walked back to his patrol car and started to write his report. Deputy Froehlich stopped by and was standing near trooper Baumes' open door. That's when Kaiser lost control of his car as he tried to negotiate a turn to Cypress Parkway. Kaiser struck a westbound vehicle then slammed into Baumes' patrol car, knocking it sideways. Baumes was not wearing his seat belt during the crash and deputy Froehlich was knocked to the ground. There were no injuries to the driver of the first vehicle that Kaiser hit. Witnesses said Kaiser was speeding and driving recklessly before striking the cruiser.  This case serves as just another reminder of how dangerous a motor vehicle can be when not treated with the requeisite caution and respect.  Please remember that a motor vehicle is a two thousand pound bullet and you as the driver control its tragectory.  Keep others safe and slow down.
