Peerless Restaurant

I absolutely hated my time dining at the peerless..It was easy to tell the crackers, bread, and my baked potato were from the day before. The ribeye I ordered was paper thin and worse tasting then something from waffle house. Then right when it couldnt get worse, a crazy old woman wouldnt leave us alone long enough to eat...This place should do Johnson City a favor and close its doors

We noticed some less than favorable comments about my favorite restaurant so I felt compelled to put in my 2-cents worth. I have been dining at The Peerless for 40 years and in all that time we have never had a "bad" meal or a bad experience. The food is great, and the employees have always been very attentive. To anyone reading this...if you truly want a real steak...cooked just the way you like it...then it's The Peerless for you. There are steak houses all over the area but when it comes to steak...The Peerless is second to none.

Young, poorly trained wait staff with no supervision, mostly trying to make time with one another, noisy and self absorbed. Came early (5:30 PM) on a Tuesday, wife's birthday. Food served at near room temperature. Waitress indifferent when it was pointed out, actually told us that the heat lamp had been turned down but the problem was fixed now. Too bad about our dinner. This is an expensive place to eat and the second time in a row this has happened. Discussed this with hostess. She too expressed her regrets and bid us farewell. Farewell indeed. This is not a hit, just the hard truth, go to a diner before you go to Peerless. If you do decide to go anyway, expect to pay $100 for two and come away angry. AND... remember, I warned you.

My wife and I ate at the Peerless in Johnson City, TN last night (5/16/2009) and I can actually say it is much worse than it was 3 years ago. And 3 years ago we swore we wouldn't return. My wife gets Peerless gift certificate's for X-.Mas presents every year and we decided to finally go after 3 years to see if it could have gotten better. I'm sorry to say it has gotten worse, 10 fold. I will start off with the appetizer, Shrimp Cocktail, the shrimp were the size of maybe medium shrimp (16/20) size not jumbo the way it should be. Next they bring a basket with 3 pieces of stale flat bread and saltine cracker's. Then we get our salads. The salads were right out of a bag and some of the lettuce was brown and slimy and the carrot pieces were limp not crunchy with the salad dressing already on the salad. There was so much salad dressing that when I was finished with what I could eat there was an 1/8" salad dressing in the bottom of the salad bowl. I have run out of words. Sorry

I Just had the Steak and Lobster Combo! Its not really on the menu But those in the know are in for a great dinner. The New York Strip was lean and FULL of flavor. I order mine med rare. I ordered my Lobster broiled. It was INCREDIBLE!
