Their Contracts Flat Out Lie

1

On October 5th, 2011 we purchased what we were told was an AKC registered Chow Chow puppy from Pet City. On each and every page of our sales contract the dog was identified as AKC registered. We were told that within 12 to 16 weeks our dog's registration papers would arrive at the pet store and we could come in and pick them up at that time. On January 16th, 2012 we went into Pet City to pick up our dog's registration papers and were shocked and surprised to find out that our dog was NOT registered with the American Kennel Club as promised and stated on our sales contract, but our dog was actually registered with United All Breed Registry. A quick Google search indicated that United is a puppy mill registry, and would apparently register a potato chip if your check cleared! We have since faxed paper work to the AKC trying to find out if our dog is even registrable with them, but because he is from a puppy mill, he is NOT eligible to be registered with the AKC. Next step -- court.

Happy with our pup

5

We recently came and adopted our pup from pet city, he came micro chipped and with his first round of shots. Also the owner knew the breeder he had come from and knew the breeder all of his dogs came from. Our new friend has papers and everything. The petstore was clean and the workers obviously cared for the pets and cleaned up after them very quickly. I was never one to even think about the option of getting a dog from a pet store but due to allergies we wanted a beagle and we were able to find one there, the owner and employees knew tons about all their dogs and what they would need they let us take as much time as we wanted with all the pets we wanted to meet and were never pushy to buy one, he was very good about letting us take our time deciding even an hour after closing, we also got a free vet exam. I never recommend a pet store but this one was really pretty good!

We bought a Siberian Husky from Pet City 14 years ago and she is still the best dog we could have asked for! No problems with her health at all.

SICK PET STORES BUY FROM MILLS!

1

This is one of the worst pet shops I have ever seen! They always have a number of sick or stressed pets. They pack a huge amount of dogs in such a small store at all times it can't be comfortable for the puppies! It seems they care much more for the money then the welfare of their animals. I'm convinced with as many puppies they pull in sick they are probly buying from puppy mills. Also the first vet check it up to you, if they came from proper breeders these puppies whould already have had their first vet exam sto assure they are healthy and acceptable to be for sale. Sounds like a mill to me. Shouldn't these people have inspections done regularly? I mean restaurants do to ensure what you're buying is healthy why not pet shops?! Shouldn't their breeders be tracked and inspected as well?! Who is to say these aren't mill puppies? Because they say so? Wheres the paperwork? I've bought a dog and some of my friends have as well and let me tell you there IS NOTHING !

RUN FAST

I wish I could put 0 stars, but 1 is the lowest option this gives. Why on earth would anyone purchase a puppy from a pet store? Pet Stores are the reason why Puppy Milling exists. If you want to add a companion to your family, please consider finding a good quality breeder who health tests thier dogs, guarentees thier puppies and is breeding for the betterment of the breed not thier pocketbook. Or adopt a dog/puppy that needs a home that is sitting up at the shelter on death row, because of place like pet city that sell dogs to people who, see this cute puppy in the window and have no idea what they are getting themselves into.

VERY HAPPY

5

My family and I purchased a 10 week old male tan long hair chiuachua(not sure how to spell it my apologies). We are very happy with our purchase. He is a great addition to our household. He had a small bout of kennal cough but we took him to the vet that they recommended and with a little bit of meds it cleared right up. Pet City covered the cost of the medication and the vet visit. I have read some of these reviews and I am disappointed and sad that these people had such a bad experience. I hope that people realize that unfortunately bad things happen and it is a gamble when you purchase animals. They get sick just like we do. It helps to do your homework concerning conditions and look around at different places and see how the owners of the store take care of their pets and their customers. We were so happy with Pet City in the mall that we have been back a ton more times. The owners of the store are so knowledgable and passionate about what they do. Take the time to talk.....

Buyer Beware!

1

We had the same experience happen. We purchased an adorable Golden Retriever from this store and about 2 days later the pup became deathly ill. A thousand dollars later in vet bills and a couple of weeks later it still wasn't better. Luckily they gave us our money back. Still, I will never purchase anything from them again. I've never heard a good thing about the store since.

Sick Sick Sick Puppy

1

We purchased an adorable, loving puppy from this pet store on August 8, 2008. Our parents were needing a lovable companion and "Daisy", a long haired, cream colored chihuahua, was the perfect animal. TWO DAYS later, our beloved Daisy became extremely ill. We took her to three different veterinarians, in three different towns, and we tried numerous medications, including antibiotics, cough medicine, etc. She rapidly declined in health over the next few weeks. Today is Sept. 23rd. She is becoming deathly ill once again. She is not moving, not eating, only coughing. $2,950 in vet bills later, our little Daisy will most likely die before the end of the week, devastating our parents - and everyone that has grown so attached to her.
