RUDE is being kind ... Avoid this place

1

I have a reasonable background in antiques. I inherited a book collection from my 93 year old father. One particular book from the late 1800's is a hand signed & hand numbered 1st edition limited to 150 of which one copy sits in the Library of Congress. Before I made the trip, I wanted to inquire if this person was interested and had the means to purchase this item. Before I could get get the fourth word out, he interrupted me, acted as if I was bothering him and basically made an a** of himself. Thankfully there are other options ...

Avoid this bookstore - RUDE owner!

1

Spare yourself the rudeness and avoid this bookstore! The doors were locked (during biz hrs) so we rang the bell. The owner came and we explained that we were interested in selling a rare book collection, and asked if the store did appraisals and if they had any interest in purchasing books. What happened next was hard to believe. We were bombarded with rudely asked questions and the man was not satisfied with any answers we offered, even when we explained author, first editions, author autographed, from the early 20th century, etc. I must have looked alarmed as he said: "Well, you have NO idea how many people come in here asking to sell books - I must get asked 50-60 times a day.” Once he learned that the books came from a close family member who had passed away, he actually became even more rude + offensive and started to interrogate us as if we were potential thieves, said we had to show him proof that we owned the books, and on and on. Do not set foot in this awful place!

Avoid this shop!

1

I have just come from this shop where my wife and I and were treated like scum. We went in to find out about selling a collection of rare and first edition books but left having had our evening completely ruined by a rude and obnoxious gentleman - presumably the shops owner. I would not recommend this shop to anyone unless you want to be put into a bad mood, treated rudely, and insulted. I suggest avoiding this shop at all costs.
