We just walked through the door after trying Ranas and I am already writing a review, which I have never done before. The service was excellent! The food was amazing! My husband ordered the chile relleno and I had the sopes. I had one chorizo and potato and one cochinita sopes. The flavors were so deep and rich. Nothing like I have ever had before. We are planning on bringing our upcoming guests here since they are big Rick Bayless fans. I think Rick would eat here if he came to Spring Valley! We hope to see lots of support for this restaurant because it is a bit off the street and perhaps easy to miss, but don't. We hope it stays for a long time so we can everything on the menu which seems to change a bit every day. An old friend walked in while we were scarfing down our delicious dinners, he was here from Colorado where he had recently relocated. Of all the restaurants he could have eaten at, he chose Ranas and now we understand why! By Stacy on October 25, 2007 at 06:41 PM
After reading the Union-Trib review, which was glowing, I took my family. We were given samples of four kinds of sauces, including a creamy mushroom sauce and their signature chicken in peanut butter. All four were absolutely delicious. I had the "huarache" (so named for the sandal-shaped fresh tortilla) with chicken and cactus. It was superb. This little restaurant has unique and creative dishes, genuine Mexican cuisine. It is a simple, small family restaurant, and I highly recommend it. By Paula on December 22, 2006 at 12:25 PM
