The place is filthy and run down. I have to wonder if it is going down the tubes. Equipment broken, facilities dirty. If you only touch the equipment and never need to use the bathrooms and wash your hands right after you might be OK. Too bad about it - it used to be decent

Staffing and safety issues

2

Have you noticed there is NOT an AED in the place. If someone goes experiences cardiac difficulties, that person is at the mercy of GBAC ambulance which will take at least a few minutes to arrive at the facility. Not good. "Time is tissue." The staff does NOTHING for free in the way of helping members. I've seen so many people doing the wrong actions on both cardio and resistance pieces. When you pay ANY price to exercise at a facility, there is an implied obligation on the part of the staff to provide basic help to the members who demonstrate improper technique. Not at this place. You have to pay to have the 'pretty boys' offer advice, some of which is inaccurate. (yes, I am qualified to make these statements). The monthly fee is reasonable. Music a tad loud. TVs mounted too high. Equipment is good. Parking is fine.

No Lunk Alarm

3

Everything you need for a great workout. Good place to train for a fitness enthusiast, bodybuilder, endurance nut, athelete, or a person doing rehab. Equipment could get repaired quicker and it could use a thorough cleaning. You can go to failure on sets and make a little noise on those last few reps. No Lunk Alarm!

Not the greatest, or cheapest, but I like it

4

When I joined over 4 years ago, I was paying $45 per month. Since then it's gone down to $20, but is still double what a membership at Planet Fitness or Aspen (where I also have a membership) would cost. I just love the place. Yeah, it's a little more expensive, and a little dirty, and big deal, the AC doesn't work. Isn't the whole point of exercise to work up a sweat? Give me a break. Want AC? Buy a freaking Bowflex and stay home. This gym has an incredible selection of gear including free weights, squat and smith boxes, a full Nautilus circuit, Hammer Strength machines, cable training gear and lots of cardio options too. Not to mention a dry sauna in each of the locker rooms and a heated pool. It's not the Ritz, but it IS a no nonsense facility for torturing your body into great shape. The staff and the people that use the gym are all friendly, as are the staff at the PT place there. I drive from Liverpool, past Aspen to go to this gym. I get annoyed at times, but still love it.

Dirty Gym

1

This place, while very convenient for those in B-ville, is always dirty and in need of some cleaning and upgrade. Other gyms in the area are chaper per month and much nicer, cleaner, etc. If Riverside doesn't improve it is in for a rude awakening, esp. if another facility opens in B-ville.

Not worth it anymore

2

When I joined 3 years ago this was a decent gym. My contract finally expired and I am not renewing. This place has become neglected. The gym is always dirty and the equipment is in constant need of repair. The free classes became pay classes and then became no classes. The few trainers I see seem distant and unfriendly. I will miss the convenience of the local gym, but I am joining one further away that has everything (except the pool) that this gym used to have.

OK, but needs improvement

2

Well, its still possible to work up a sweat at this club BUT it's time to replace some of the aerobic machines such as the treadmill, ellipticals and steppers. They are at the end of their useful life. Many machines are broken and it takes FOREVER to be repaired. The weights/Nautilus are OK but management still needs to put them on the list for replacement too. My big beef is LACK OF CLEANLINESS. The Men's room is a pigsty and the gym floor isn't much better. Also why do the employees get the best lockers? There are too few and 3 employees take up the best ones! I'm a member because of the convenience factor. But if something else opens up I'm outta here!!

Old Army

Reading some old reviews I disagree with some. As for bull it would be nice to have some air working. Yes i think its great you served in the desert and you got agreat welcome back well deserved But now you are still under 30. I on ther hand took a walk in the bush1967-69 Hot and wet there and i was welcomed back as a baby killer i am 62 now and like air. As for the staff great people always pleasent and willing to help. The manager just look grumpy get to know him nice guy. Not a bad place to work out in.

POOL TEMPERATURE

5

I have been a member for 3-4 years now and one of the main reasons I joined was because of pain in my legs and arms due to poor circulation. I use the sauna and pool for an hour and it is the only thing that makes me pain free. With the water temp. so cold, I cannot stay in very long as it causes me to shiver. I would appreciate the temp. to be raised to 90 degrees as I cannot tolerate it any colder than that due to my condition.

POOL WATER TEMP.

5

I am in my early 70's and cannot tolerate the cold water temperature because of my arthritis while doing my aerobic work-out. The water temp. in the 90's is the only thing that relieves my arthritis pain. When can I expect to see the water temp. back up into the comfort zone as I became a member just to use the pool.
