Jay, you and Nick (the guy who wrote the exact SAME review ) seem to have had the same problem and the same experience on the same day. Go figure! Sounds to me like you are the rude one and making false statements. Not sure what appetizer you paid for but if it was calamari you must have been at the different place....it is not $20. And as for the smell of smoke there is no smoking allowed so again you must have been at another restaurant. The only thing I feel when I walk out of there is content and full. This is the worst place ever! Took a party of 10,sat in private room The server was wonderful, but the place is a cluster-you know what. The Managers are a joke and the food is nothing special.DON'T WASTE YOUR MONEY HERE!!!!!!! By Karen on May 22, 2010 at 05:30 PM
We have eaten in the restaurant several times and also utilized the carry out. As others have said the food is good, not outstanding. The main problem here is the management and inconsistencies. We have been given the wrong carry out order 2 times. One time they actually delivered it to another party and then delivered it to our home. Another time we took it home and then called to let them know. They picked it up and took it to the correct party. I'm not really comfortable with someone opening my food. Not sure the health department would be either. In terms of the smoke, I know for sure at least one of the managers/owners smokes as I saw him doing so in the carry out section. We have had dining experiences that have gone just fine but if you don't want to risk a bad experience go somewhere else. By Cathy on January 03, 2009 at 11:09 AM
My husband & I grew up in Hinsdale & OakBrook, and have always said, wouldn't it be great to have a quant little Italian restaurant with the best food, ambiance, cozy, not outrageous in price, and Not have to go to
Oak Brook...? Well, this is it !! We love it, & when my Father is in town
he loves it too. The owners are very nice too !! Thanks.

We recently visited on a weekday afternoon between lunch and dinner. There was only one other group dining besides our party of two. We received little to no attention, had to request drinks and other items as we were not asked, and wait staff was not overly friendly. I had salmon, which looked like it came from a frozen box with fake grill pattern stamped on it and no seasoning. Also quite expensive. I would not recommend. By Leslie on July 16, 2008 at 09:54 AM
This is an awesome restaurant in many respects. First, the dining experience is fantastic. The setting is classy, the food is outstanding, and the service as good as you could ask it to be. There is also a carry out component to Scapa, separate the restaurant with an entrance on the side, that they take a lot of pride in, if you're not interested in the dining room that night. The pizza and italian beef sandwiches are some of the best around, and the carry out segment of Scapa is also highly recommended. Whoever wrote the negative review is definitely confused, as the place is not loud and has never allowed any kind of smoking. By mike on June 23, 2008 at 05:56 PM
My wife and I go to Scapa's about once a week. I have not had a bad meal yet. Jay, who wrote the other review must have been at a different restaurant and got confused. The prices are reasonable for Clarendon Hills. Their carryout menu is also a delight. Good deep pan pizza. I would recommend Scapa's as I do to all my friends. By Gary on March 19, 2008 at 04:03 PM
I decided to head on over to what looked like a nice local restaurant. As soon as I stepped in the place smelled of smoke and was a crowded and noisy eating environment. I ordered calamari for and appetizer and tragically in 15 minuets I was sick! It seemed under cooked and old. I was not expecting this for a dish that I was paying 20 dollars for. I later learned that all the food is prepared right next to each other and that the calamari had come into contact with raw shrimp and meat. I am allergic to shrimp and contact with raw meat is never a safe food environment. I demanded my money back and the owner/manager was rude and unprofessional about the situation. I would never go here again and I strongly do not recommend wasting your money or your health by attending this over priced restaurant. By Jay on March 04, 2008 at 05:17 PM
