Shook & Tarlton Rentals

hateful people,irresponsible persons they just DONT CARE a bit of the conditions you are living.we have been with a broken bathroom for a week they just don't fixed it right!!!! Water everywhere.... can't use the sink, toilet, tub and maybe washer!!!!!! ITS BEEN A WEEK ALLREADY!!!!!! BUT FOR SURE THEY WILL BE WAITING FOR THE RENT CHECK TO BE ON TIME!!!!!!!!!!

Before moving to Hickory, I drove 8 hours to visit a variety of Shook & Tarlton properties on a Saturday to try to pick a place to live. Shook & Tarlton gave me the keys to enter and tour these properties after demanding I hand my driver's license over to them. I understand that they need to protect themselves, but after getting lost driving around Hickory, I arrived back at their offices 10 minutes after 1 PM, their Saturday closing time. Rather than waiting 15 minutes to see if I would show up, they decided to lock the office and keep my driver's license. I had to drive back home to another state illegally without my license and have them mail my driver's license back to me. So much for Southern hospitality. Being late was certainly my fault, but even leaving a note on the door with the phone number of a person I could call to exchange the keys for my license would have been human.

I agree with some of the other reviewers on here. I found it VERY interesting that other renters had the same problem with toxic black mold in Shook & Tarlton Rentals that I did. I lived in a lake house that had quite a bit of it. I had a sample laboratory tested and confirmed as toxic black mold. For me, having severe asthma and allergies, this is unacceptable. I notified Shook & Tarlton and the owners of the property and no one apologized, much less batted an eye about this. Suffice it to say, Shook & Tarlton doesn't care one bit about the conditions you are living in, as long as they get your rent checks. If you want a good place to live nearby, try checking the local papers for properties available for rent directly through property owners.

Terrible company to rent from. Apartment had toxic black mold and was infested with roaches and then they had the audacity to try to keep part of our deposit when we moved. Apartment was in better shape when we moved out than in. Moved to another apartment with them and then they increase the rent once we moved in. Avoid shook and tarlton at all costs!!! I'd rather live in ridgeview if that tells you anything.

This is a horrible company! Our smoke detector was broken for 6 weeks! I had to threaten to pursue legal action to get them to fix it. They are horrible at customer service. Overall just a horrible place to rent from. STAY AWAY!!!!!

Didn't care that the house they were renting me had toxic black mold. Typically cold and not service oriented. Went to look at some properties with the keys they gave me (in exchange for my driver's license)... by the time I returned to their office, albeit 10 minutes late, they had closed for the weekend and I had to drive back home out of state without my driver's license. They had to mail it back. DO NOT RECOMMEND.
