Loved this place

4

We stayed at the Snowline the first week of May. We wanted to camp but the weather didn't cooperate. The new owners, Cindy and Jeff were great! Very friendly! They are really working with the place. The rooms are clean and very unique. Breakfast is served out on the upstairs deck. They provide coffee, tea, milk, toast, oatmeal and make your own waffles. The downstairs is work in progress, but has lots of potential. It is too bad that the previous owner gave this place such a bad rep!! There is nothing fancy about the place, but the location and the views are great! And like I said before, the new owners have really cleaned things up. I would stay here again!!!

Worst of the Worst - ZERO STARS !!!

1

Worst place I've ever stayed in my life!! I'm a regular guy with no ax to grind, and have never posted a comment on any service before now. But to not let the others know of the scam Al Toovy is running at Snowline Cabins would be a crime. My wife, three children invited my parents to join us for a number of days at Yosemite and then Kings Canyon National Parks, hoping for a restful, rustic, semi-camping experience. What we got was a disaster at Snowline Cabins. This place is a filthy, bug infested, run down barn. We had no hot water for three days, kitchen is nasty, bathrooms disgusting, refrigerator not working, carpet is a health hazaard . . .and the owner Al Toovy is the ruddest man I think I have ever done business with. Terrible reputation in the community. Take my advice and stay away. There are other fine places to stay in the area, but if you go with Toovy, you'll be disappointed.

STAY AWAY! FAR FAR AWAY

1

Nasty converted barn, urine saturated furniture, mice rule the roost, roaches, filthy, one of the toilets advertised is a real outhouse (from where the manager will inform you the photo of the countryside was taken), another has had long-term sewage leak and you can't hold your breath long enough to use, "kitchen" which is nasty and fully stocked means an old spatula big spoon a pot and a pan with the teflon scratched off - ewwww. Pull in before 6 pm and they'll tell you the place isn't ready, go enjoy the park, and by the time you come back when the place is "ready" it's too late to go elsewhere to find a room. DO IT! RUN AWAY! We packed & left what was to be our dream California destination with our families. Then we had to battle owner Mr. Toovy for our deposit back. Read his rebuttals - he's truly insane or the wost of the rip off artists, preying on the vacationing public. We can't believe he is able to do this to so many people. STAY AWAY!!! Unless you are 60 Minutes.

rebuttal

I'll begin by saying I appreciate the opportunity to say something in my behalf. I don't know what it is about certian people who expect to go to the "wilderness" to have a "woodsy experience" and say some of the things they do that clearly makes one wonder...WHERE DO THEY THINK THEY ARE? I advertise my Cabins, for example, as what they are: Rustic and woodsy, in the National Forest. But, no, they come thinking everythiing should be just as it is at home. Many are very young and spoiled and leave the premises as if they have never cleaned anything in their life! The first sign of a "bug" or a cobweb, (which can develop overnight) or even a rodent that comes looking for "food" they have probably left out or dropped even acidentally, they go balistic. I can't continue because of the 1000 character limitation--If you want to hear the "other" side contact me at toovy2@hotmail.com--I'll e-mail you my entire rebuttal. Thanks.

AWFUL

1

This is the most awful place we've ever rented. The owner/manager rented us the lower "rustic" cabin for $165 a night. When we arrived, our car couldn't go up to the cabin because the service road was dusty, full of bumps/holes, and simply in disrepair. The cabin was a shocking insult--dirty, full of bugs, with nails sticking out of the ceiling. The owner of this place is truly dishonest, charging a lot of money for a place that is not even in minimal rentable condition. This place needs to be shut down!

Bad

I recently stayed at this motel and I would not recomend it to anyone. The manager I think her name was Terry was so rude and had a bad attitude, the other manager was nicer but all he did was argue with his wife right in front of me and that was not professinal. The place was run down and dirty and looked like it needed some serious cleaning. I do not know the managers personaly but something up with them because they told me that they do not accept credit cards only cash and when I told them that I stayed there about a year ago and payed with my credit card they said well now the owner only takes cash. This kind of worried me alittle because it makes me wonder if they steal money.

Horrible

1

I would have given many negative stars if there was that option! We had a really horrible expereience staying in Snowline Lodge - dirty, run down, misleading pictures, full of bugs and bad suprises, leaky roof, limited supply of toilet paper, only 1 bathroom inside the house while they claimed 2.5, and the list goes on! To add to the disappointment, when we shared our experience with the owner and manager, the owner just flat out told us that there was nothing wrong with the house, it was just that our expectations were too high! He expected us to let him know immediately when we saw bugs in the house, so that he could come fumigate the house during our weekend stay. There was no land line in the house, cel phones have no signal, and the manager's number is not even published in the information brochure inside the house.

Disappointed

1

Recently spent a wknd there & will never go back. One of the worst places we've ever stayed at. Things that didn't meet expectations: - Cleanliness: My standards are pretty low but this failed to meet even those. The place (esp the bathroom area) smelled like a dirty public toilet; Dining table was sticky; Carpet was dirty; Kitchen utensils were quite dirty - Furniture: The couch looked like it collapsed on itself. Apparently there's a phone jack but no phone. - House: The roof leaked - NBD except it rained all that wknd. Heater was busted so we had to use the furnace - Accessibility: Our (nonAWD) cars had trouble reaching the house. Had to park at a midpoint & carry our stuff up Things that were Acceptable - They had a TV (albiet a ~9" w/ rabbit ears) and provided a DVD Player (though movies provided were in VHS!). - The tankless water heater worked well. All in all, we expected more for what we paid. Worst was the advertising for this place wasn’t accurate
