Sun Pass Ranch

The Sun Pass Ranch is a great place to stay, just about as close to Crater Lake as you can get (24 miles south of the South Entrance on Highway 62). Patti & Will are pleasant hosts who serve excellent family-style breakfasts. You are welcomed in as one of the family. If you had horses this would be a dream vacation spot since it is also a "Horse Hotel", and their own horses looked happy. Crater Lake itself is one of the seldom visited gems of the National Park Service. Summertime offers the opportunity to drive around the rim road (usually July through Sept), but it also looks beautiful in winter. Plowed access is maintained up to the crater edge from the South entrance most of the year, allowing for cross-country ski access. There also is no house number posted at the road.
