About The French Hens
Lunch Cafe, Bakery, Tea Room & Gift Shop. Located in former Brailford's Grocery (an historic building). We serve lunch Monday through Saturday, and also take orders for our secret recipe cakes and sweet rolls -- and now casseroles, too! You'll find a unique selection ...of home decor, accent furniture, and art, too. Our "back room" is available for rental for special lunch & tea parties. Stop by and enjoy one of our famous chicken salad sandwiches, a cup of hot soup, a side order of "Carolina Caviar" (cold black eyed pea salad), a cup of coffee or tea (hot or iced), and a slice of our signature Pecan Praline cake with "Cluck", our resident rooster. He's the big guy greeting you on the sidewalk outside our front door. Locally owned and operated by two retirement aged, hometown gals. Come on in for good, home style cooking and dine and shop in peaceful, Southern ambience, with a European flair. We use local and organic produce. From I-95 take exit 119 and head straight into town. We're across the street from our lovely Courthouse. "A Most Unique Place to Shop and Eat" JoAnn Corbett and Jayne Teed Redman, Proprietors

All that we had hoped
June 21, 2008. My daytripping friend and I seek out the special places in SC. Out of Columbia, Manning was our destination for the day and French Hens was our chosen lunch. Everything was fresh homemade and the iced tea was as good as any, anywhere! The amazing coin...cidence was that of three occupied tables, the other folks were from Lexington and Woodruff. I pity those who seek out chains when their are such special places run by locals who really care. French Hens is not fine dining. It is great dining drenched in hospitality. We'll be back!!
