This small but inviting restraunt, keeps up with some of the best restraunts New York City and the City of Toronto Canada has to offer. Be not deceived with its size, it delivers a 100 dollar plate meal for under 35 dollars. Ralph, a master chef, is from New Jersey and you know what they say about New Jersey food, you can't beat it. I would have to say it is one of my favorite restraunt I have ever experienced and I do consider my self a well traveled individual. I have recommended this restraunt to many of my friends, not surprised they all raved about the quality of the food. By Dino Zefferino on June 04, 2010 at 07:11 AM
The Vault has amazing food. I live in the Bangor area, and I will take The Vault over anywhere that Bangor has to offer, hands down. Anytime that I am up in Houlton to visit family, I make sure to stop. To find the kind of quality that the Vault offers in the Bangor area would easily run a person a huge bill. It's so nice to enjoy a very delicious and well prepared dinner and not break the bank. Amazing job Ralph! By Anonymous on January 06, 2010 at 03:26 PM
Everyone is commenting on the steak this restraunt serves but I think their seafood alfredo is out of this world! Ralph ignore the haters and keep the great food coming! By krista crouse on July 28, 2009 at 04:57 PM
Another reviewer called this Ralph and Miriam's "best restaraunt in town"-- in fact a vast understatement-- to which I'd add it's well worth the drive from Bangor, even if dinner is all you're looking for! Friends called the steak "perfect," I had wonderful veal (at the chef's suggestion), the escargot appetizer was as good as any I'd had in Portland or Boston, the atmosphere is one-of-a-kind (where else could you literally eat in a beautifully restored bank vault--but make *those* particular reservations *well* in advance!), and the staff is wonderful--funny, attentive, and they keep the wine flowing. Put it this way-- if you live in Portland or Bangor, you should be wildly jealous of those in Houlton who are right next door to a restaraunt this good. Many thanks to Ralph and Miriam for the experience! By Ray Rice on May 30, 2009 at 11:18 AM
Atmosphere, lighting, music, ambience and great selection of food and spirits. That's The Vault Restaurant...right in the heart of downtown Houlton Maine. Steaks cooked to perfection...hand carves, served the way you like, the way you want, the way it should be served. Fresh veggies, super deserts...I'm getting hungry. You will come back over and over once you discover The Vaut Restaurant in Houlton Maine! By Andrew Mooers on December 07, 2008 at 10:35 AM
I wanted to thank all my fellow guests for attenting and dining at my restaurant. A review is someone else's opinion on the subject, or matter. People who post a negative comment or criticize any person place or thing is obviosly jealous of what someone else has accomplished in life. Any criricisim or suggestions please have the courage to grow some b......s and call me on it, or mention it to me. I found out throughout my years of being a restauranteure, poeple who complain the most are the most satisfied, and will come back for more. again thank you all for your support and we now serve beer and wine, come on in and experience great dining.
